"Mum!" Niall called and you sighed, placing your book mark into the book you were reading and placing it on the side table.

"What is it? She's not in." You asked your stepbrother, who had just entered the living room.

Even since last week, Niall had been acting up. He found you crying in your room over the daily stresses you went through and he comforted you, something he might've done if he was your real brother, but he wasn't. He wasn't related to you at all and he had been avoiding you ever since, which made you feel like he would never class you as anything to him.

You liked him. At first, you thought you shouldn't because he's your stepbrother, but you told your friend in confidence and she reminded you that your not actually related, our parents aren't actually married so technically were not anything, which means it doesn't matter, but it still bothered you, even though you knew Niall didn't feel the same.

"Oh, well I needed to talk to her." He stated and you sighed.

"Like I said, she's not here and if you came out of hiding from your bedroom for once, you'd know that she's away for the weekend." You told him, picking up your phone.

Maura had offered to take everyone on holiday, including your siblings and Greg, leaving you and Niall alone all weekend, which you thought was strange. You asked why you and Niall couldn't come, but she just said there wasn't enough room for the both of you in the car.

"That's this weekend?" He asked, his eyes widening.

"Yeah, they did say goodbye, weren't you listening?" You asked, bewildered.

Niall usually spent time in his room, but no where near as much as what he had been doing since last week and it bothered you to know he was purposely avoiding you.

"Well, not really, I have other things on my mind." He shrugged and you rolled your eyes.

"I can tell." You scoffed.

"W-what?" He stammered and you looked up at him from your phone to see his eyes widened, a small blush on his cheeks.

"You've been acting weird all week, what is wrong with you?" You asked and he bit his bottom lip nervously, looking away from you before setting off to leave.

"Oh, am I really that unbearable to be around?" You exclaimed, standing up and picking up your book to head to your room as he stopped in his tracks.

"Wait!" He called, grabbing your arm as you walked passed him.

You tugged your arm out of his grip as he stood in front of you, stopping you from going any further.

"Did you want something?" You snarled and he sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"Y/N, what did you mean when you said that? Your not unbearable to be around." He spoke up, seeming to be searching your eyes for answers.

"I'm not oblivious Niall, you've been avoiding me all week and your acting different around me!" You shouted.

"I didn't realise you hated me that much." You added quietly and his eyes softened and he shook his head.

"Y/N, I don't hate you, where did you get that idea from?" He questioned, confused.

"From your body language, that's where from." You scoffed, brushing past him and running to your room, closing the door behind you.

"Y/N, come on, I didn't mean to upset you." Niall called through the door only moments later.

"It's not your fault, it's mine." He continued.

"Sure is." You called back.

"You don't understand!" He yelled, frustrated.
