I walked into college, sitting down at my desk as usual and avoiding everyone else. I sat by myself or with my friend sometimes, but it was usually just me.

I thought maybe coming to college would help me to make more friends, but I was too shy to talk to people first and that's probably why I don't have many friends.

"Excuse me?" A voice spoke, snapping me from my thoughts.

I looked up to see a boy with blonde highlighted hair and captivating blue eyes. He had glasses on as he pushed them up his nose, looking nervous.

It was Niall. I had seen him around but he sat by himself too, not really talking to people much.

He didn't seem to have any friends in this class, but when we went for break and lunch I had seen him meet up with a boy who I'd learnt to know as Liam, who must have been his friend.

"Yes?" I asked quietly, not knowing what Niall could want.

"Could I sit with you today? Someone mentioned that we have to partner up and I don't have anyone to go with," he explained.

"Oh, yeah that's fine," I nodded, gesturing for him to sit down.

"Thanks." He smiled.

I have to admit Niall was adorable, but I didn't really pay much attention to boys seeing as none of them seemed to pay much attention to me.

After getting our work, we were asked to make a poster in pairs and after getting all of the things we needed, Niall proceeded to write our names on the back of the poster.

"Niall and Y/N." Is what he wrote.

"I didn't realise you knew my name," you said, slightly surprised.

"Yeah, of course I do, your not invisible you know," Niall smiled.

I suppose it shouldn't have been such a shock, I mean, I do know his name.

"I feel like I am sometimes," I muttered and he nodded understandingly.

"Me too, your not on your own there." He said sympathetically.

After finishing our work and talking more, I realised maybe I wasn't on my own.

"Do you maybe want to hang out with me and my friend at lunch?" Niall asked once we had been dismissed for lunch.

"Oh, no it's fine," I said, not wanting to intrude.

"Oh, but aren't you on your own? I've seen you alone before." Niall said, looking genuinely concerned.

"Yeah I am, but it's alright. You don't need to pity me," I told him as he shook his head.

"I'm not, I genuinely would love to hang out with you," Niall said.

"Please just come with me and my friend Liam for lunch, at least for today," Niall suggested again and I sighed.

"Alright then, thank you." I said and he smiled.

We walked out of class to be greeted by Niall's friend, who smiled at both of us.

"Hey Liam, this is Y/N," Niall introduced me and I smiled awkwardly at Liam.

"Hi Y/N, I'm Liam. Niall's been talking about asking you to hang out with us all of this week," Liam laughed as I blushed.

That's a first, when does that ever happen to me?

"Shut up Li," Niall joked.

After lunch, I had really gotten to know Niall and Liam and they were really nice. I never expected this.

"Nice to meet you Y/N, will you have lunch with us again tomorrow?" Liam asked as Niall and I were about to head back to class.

"That would be lovely, thanks Liam." I smiled, feeling more comfortable.

"Great, see you tomorrow. See you later Ni!" Liam called as he walked away.

"Bye Liam," Niall smiled, waving to his friend.

"Why did you want to ask me to have lunch with you both?" I asked Niall once we got to our classroom.

"I thought you seemed like a nice person to talk to and you are. It's nice to have a new friend and I like you. I'm surprised people haven't noticed you more often." Niall smiled and I felt better.

"Plus, I've seen you writing before. It intrigued me. I love writing too and I feel like we have a lot in common. I hope you don't mind but I told Liam because we write together, we write stories, songs and other things too and he said he liked you even more." Niall said genuinely.

"Thank you, yeah I love writing." I told him and he smiled.

I had friends. I just hadn't known it until now.

This one is dedicated to my friend, she didn't ask for it but I wanted to write it for her because I think she deserves respect and I think she's a lovely person:)
