You smiled, saying hello to the dogs in the animal centre as you entered work.
Working in an animal centre was great for you, you got to work with dogs on a daily basis by looking after them as they waited to be rehomed and you were just glad you could help to take care of them before they were rehomed.
"Y/N, do you have a minute to talk please?" Your boss asked as he passed you in the kennels and you quickly got up to follow him.
"What do you need?" You asked him.
"I've come to give you an offer that I think you'd benefit well from." He told you.
His name was Niall and he was a nice person, but he mainly worked in the offices, rather than with the animals so you didn't get to see him very often.
"Oh, what's that?" You asked.
"I was wondering if you'd like to join me in my office? Think of it as a promotion," he suggested, a warm smile on his lips.
"Office? But, I don't work with paperwork, I work with the animals." You informed him.
"I know that and you'll still be working with the animals, but you'll spend two days a week in my office with me and three days with the dogs. I think this would be a great opportunity for you and I can teach you the basics of office work." He explained.
"What paperwork would I have to do?" You enquired.
You were thankful of the promotion, but you weren't a fan of paperwork and so you were unsure. Your main focus was always the animals and you weren't expecting this.
"You will be writing up reports on the animals and updating their files on the Internet, nothing major and you'll have me to keep you company." He smiled.
"Plus you'll get a pay rise as it is a promotion, however I won't take you away from the animals, I can see how much you care for them." He added.
"Okay, I'll do it and thank you." You smiled.
"Great, you'll be working in my office for the last two days of the week and we can start from next week." He told you.
"Okay, thank you." You said, excitedly and he nodded before walking away.

A week later and you were outside of Niall's office thinking he wasn't here yet as he had asked you to meet him.
You leaned against the door, slightly out of breath from taking the stairs before you felt yourself falling as the door to his office opened and you fell through it.
You looked up from your spot on the ground as Niall looked back at you with a cheeky smile.
"I was just coming outside to see if you were here yet, you certainly know how to make an entrance." He laughed, a beautiful laugh that made you smile.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were going to open the door." You said, getting up and regaining your composure.
"It's okay love, come in." He said, still giggling from what had happened as you entered his office.
"So, where will I be seated?" You asked him.
"Right here," he said, taking you to the empty desk with a computer on it as you sat down, noticing a dog bed placed underneath it.
"I brought you a friend to keep you company." He smiled, noticing your expression.
You were confused, until you felt something on your knee and you turned around to see a golden retriever with it's head on your knee as it wagged it's tail.
"Aww, your adorable!" You cooed.
"He's mine actually, but he's house trained and I usually bring him to work with me anyway." He explained.
"He's lovely, I didn't know you had a dog." You exclaimed, realising that you didn't really know much about your boss.
"I do and I also write music and play the guitar outside of work," he said.
"You write music?" You asked.
"Yeah," he smiled.
"I love music," you giggled, stopping yourself as you realised how you were acting today.
First you tripped through the door and now you were giggling like a girl with a crush. The palms of your hands were sweaty and your face felt warm, were you blushing?
He laughed, smiling at you and you felt yourself become nervous.
Why am I nervous? Why is he making me nervous? You thought.
You couldn't explain the feelings you were having.
"I can play guitar for you sometime if you like and sing you one of the songs I've written?" He asked you hopeful.
"Yeah, I'd love that." You smiled.
"Great, it's so nice how someone's interested in my music," he said, seriously.
"Your the first person to seem so intrigued and I like it." He told you with a wink and you felt yourself becoming nervous again.
You looked at his dog in front of you who was still sat by you and you couldn't help but give him some attention, he was adorable.
"Do you want me to show you the work your supposed to be doing?" Niall spoke into your ear as his breath fanned against your face and you jumped at how close he was to you.
"Y-yes please, sorry," you said, realising you were supposed to be working and not chatting about Niall's life or being distracted by his dog.
"It's fine love, all you have to do is write up about the dogs you've been looking after and update our website with more information about the specific dogs which I've listed here," he informed you, handing you a list of information about certain dogs which needed to be added to the website.
"Okay, I can do that," you told him.
"I know you can," he smiled, getting up and going back to his desk while you let out a deep breath.
He made you feel so nervous and him being so close made you feel something for him. Did you like him? You couldn't tell at this point but taking in his appearance, you realised how handsome he was. You didn't really take it in before, but now you had a good look at him, you noticed how cute he looked with his blonde tufts of hair and his bright blue eyes.
"Like what you see?" He smirked and you realised you had been staring at him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare." You said, turning to do your work.
Your sure you were blushing by now, but after how your morning had gone, you weren't surprised.
"It's okay love, I like what I see too." He said with a cheeky smile.
You laughed, turning to look back at your computer as you got on with your work, not expecting your boss to be flirting with you, but loving the sound of the name "love" from his lips and knowing he was calling it to you made you nervous.
Working alongside your boss was sure proving to be an adventure.
