Nick and I were engaged in a conversation when he had suggested waiting until after the grand finals to share our news with our friends and family. His eagerness was palpable, and I couldn't help but be captivated by the way his eyes lit up when he spoke about our future.

Nick had always been my pillar of strength, the one I turned to in both the best and worst of times. I couldn't help but reminisce about the serendipitous way we had crossed paths, leading to a love story I cherished every day.

As we discussed our plans, I found myself indulging in the familiar habit of cracking my knuckles. To my surprise, Nick's reaction was quite different from what I expected. He reached for my hand and held it firmly, his expression filled with concern and care. It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes about our relationship - the way we were attuned to each other's needs, no matter how minor.

"It's so relaxing!" I remarked, unaware that my habit might unsettle Nick.

"Not for me! It's so painful to hear; it makes my body freeze and twitch," he confessed with a playful shake of his head. I couldn't help but chuckle at his candid response.

Then, Nick, unable to contain his excitement any longer, let slip a secret he had been keeping. "Guess what," he turned to me, anticipation dancing in his eyes.

"What?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued.

"One, I said guess, two, did I tell you I'm playing tomorrow?!" Nick's enthusiasm was infectious, and I couldn't resist joining in his elation.

"No way! That's amazing!" I embraced him tightly, feeling the warmth of his presence and the pride swelling in my heart. Although Nick had already shared this news with me before, I played along, knowing how important it was to him.

But then, Nick's nerves resurfaced as he admitted, "But I'm so nervous..." His habit of biting his nails, something I had always found endearing, was a telltale sign of his anxiety.

"That annoys me," I teased, reaching for both of Nick's hands and offering him a reassuring smile. I wanted him to know that I had unwavering faith in his abilities, that I believed in him with all my heart.

Nick playfully rolled his eyes at my comment, but I understood that my words had touched him. "Nervous for what? You're going to play just fine! I know you will," I affirmed, my voice brimming with confidence and affection.

"I hope I will," Nick mumbled, his uncertainty momentarily overshadowing his excitement.

I looked into Nick's eyes, my heart overflowing with emotions. We spent the rest of the night talking until we decided to head to bed.
