" How is he?"

" He's fine ma'am. His blood pressure has been slightly stable but we're still going to keep him here for a few days for proper monitoring."

" Okay."

" But please no sudden news. We don't want to trigger anything."

" Of course. Thank you." Elizabeth said.

" I'm just doing my job."

Aria stepped out of the doctor's office with her mother in tow.

" Is it okay if I step out for a while? Zayn and Bella want to talk."

" Of course."

" Thanks mum. I'll be back soon."

" Hey, where's Zayn?" Aria greeted sliding into the booth.

" He went to the men's room. You look tired."

" I am tired."

" Your dad or Jared?"

" Both."

" I thought you already got rid of the Jared problem, your dad gave you the choice to call off the wedding?"

" Yeah, then Jared happened."

" Explain."

Aria began explaining her spat with Jared at the hospital, her conversation with Jade and her feedback.

" Aria."

" I can't drag Zayn into this. He…he has worked so hard to get this job."

" So you're really gonna marry him?"

" What choice do I have?" She exclaimed as tears pricked her eyes.
" I'm getting married Bella!"

She let out a watery laugh and shook her head.

" Hey June."

" Zayn! I'm afraid Aria isn't in."

" I'm not here for Aria. Is he in?"

" Yes but-"

" Great!"

Zayn stormed off in the direction of Jared's office with a frantic June in tow. He barged into the office just as Jared ended a call.

Jared raised an eyebrow.

" Sir I-"

" It's okay June, you can go."

June left without another word.

" She's not here."

" You're a sick bastard."

He chuckled.

" I am? How so?"

" She doesn't love you! Isn't that clear to you!"

" And she loves you?"

Zayn scoffed.

" You can never make her happy! You're just an over pampered playboy who doesn't understand the word 'no'!"

Zayn stumbled back from the impact of Jared's punch. He could feel a warm liquid trickling down his nostrils. His anger flared and he raised his fist for revenge.

" Thank you June." Jared stated as he held an ice pack against his head.

Zayn stared at him as he held a similar pack to his cheek, occasionally moving it to his nose.

" You don't love her?"

" I do. But as a sister. She's my best friend."

" Oh."

" Why do want her so bad?"

Jared sighed.

" I'm in love with her."

Zayn snorted at first but then raised his eyebrows in surprise when he realised Jared was serious.

" Why didn't you tell her?"

It was Jared's turn to snort.

" Have you met Aria?"

Zayn chuckled.

" She'd chew you up and spit you out then shatter your heart into a billion pieces." Zayn stated.

" Exactly."

" She's not happy you know?"

" I know." He replied quietly.
" But I can't lose her."

" Jared she's miserable."

" Then the wedding's off. If that will make her happy then…I'll learn to live with it."

" You know you already ruined whatever chances you had with her right?"

" I never had a chance."

" What happened to your face?"

" When were you going to tell me?"

" Tell you what?"

" The deal with Jared!"

" Technically, it was more of a blackmail."

" Aria."

" I didn't want you to worry!"

" So you were willing to marry a man you don't love?"

" You love your job and it wouldn't have been fair if I dragged you into my mess."

" Come here." Zahn stated opening his arms.
" Thank you." He said softly as he hugged her.

" I love you."

" I love you little sis." He replied ruffling her hair a little causing her to pout.
" I spoke to Jared."

She rolled her eyes.

" He agreed to call off the wedding."

She shook her head.

" It's pointless. Dad already thinks we're getting married."

" But-"

" Jared told him that I decided not to call off the wedding."

" Fuck."

" Telling dad the wedding's off now could potentially kill him so…"

She shrugged.

" I'll get married and when dad gets better, I'll file for a divorce." She sniffled.

" I'm so sorry."

" It's not your fault."
