FOSTER MONTIETH WAS THE BEST FRIEND of Steve Harrington. He was Steve's right hand man, and the first one to passively stab him in the back. Not really, of course, but when he fell for Nancy and still continued to like her after she was Steve's prey— one could probably call that backstabbing.
Foster and Nancy never hung out obviously, they both had seen each other around. Nancy would always come out of AP Bio with Barbara, while Foster was surrounded by girls throwing themselves at him. Nancy would laugh at some of the jokes Barb would tell and Foster would melt right then and there.
He liked watching her from across the room in the cafeteria, her blue eyes so big and animated, he wanted to stare at them until oblivion. Yet Steve then realizes who he's looking at, and he finds himself catching interest as well.
Foster would never go against Steve like that, and he gives Steve props because at least the big haired male actually did something about his infatuation. While Foster was just— there, pretending to play it cool in hopes that she would make a move first.
Now even after Steve and Nancy date, Foster's like for her increases and decreases at the same time. He tries to be a better friend to Steve, but with Nancy being around more, he can't seem to shake the eyes that he so desperately wants to bat at her.
WHAT CAN CHANGE : the name, the title , and the faceclaim
PRETTY MUCH — Foster has liked Nancy way before she was Steve's girlfriend but he can't shake his feelings off because the fact that she's around more means the more time he gets to spend with her . . . Even if it's a platonic amount of time
— Nancy is clueless to his love for her — they do not have to end up together because Nancy could still have her love triangle with Jonothan which discloses Foster but there's no fun in that — Foster puts up a front that he's super flirtatious and is a player but is really not that way and only has eyes for Nancy — Foster and Steve should probably get into a fight and because Steve can't fight, Foster wins — Foster should be at the scene when Steve, Nancy, and Jonothan are about to fight the demogorgon and Foster's choice of weapon is like a uh— a pot. Kitchen supply will probably be HIlarious
