Chapter 89

Adrian's P.O.V

I didn't think I would feel anything when the spell was completed but I did.

The eclipse began and a sharp pain punctured both sides of my head and for a bit everything went blank.

When I came back to my senses I wasn't exactly where I wanted to be; I didn't move from my position in the cave but my mind was somewhere else.

The memories I didn't know I had came back in flashes.

"Look lady, as much as I'd like to sit and chat with a lovely looking woman like you, I've got a lot on my mind right now and I need to leave." Satyr stood in front of me dressed in a long violet dress. At the time I didn't know here. It was the first time we met.

"I know, your girlfriend is missing."

"How do you−

"You're not the only mind reader here."

That was the night I went out looking for Cate. Why was I remembering this?

I walked out of the shop and caught her scent.

"Cate?"

"Adrian?"

She turned around but it wasn't Cate; it was Scarlet.

"Where is she? Don't lie to me where is Cate?"

I don't remember this happening. I don't remember seeing Scarlet that night.

"Just follow me. I'll take you to her."

How did Scarlet know where Cate was?

She led me into a room and there she was. The love of my life. Tied up on the cold, hard floor.

"Cate, are you ok? Don't worry I'm here now ok. You're gonna be fine."

"Thank you so much. You saved my life."

"Of course Catey, come on lets go."

"You know my name but I don't know yours. Who are you?"

"Adrian, are you ok?" Jennifer's voice snapped me back but I was fuming.

"It was you." My voice was calm but anyone who knew me would know that a tornado would look like the fucking throwing of rice at a wedding compared to what followed me being this calm.

"What are you talking about?" Jennifer asked and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Jennifer please don't touch me I don't wanna hurt you."

"Adrian−

"Don't touch me!" I finally snapped and shouted at her and she removed her hand.

"Adrian what the hell is wrong with you?" The last person who should have spoken at all asked and I looked at her. I could see the poison clouding my eyesight as I did.

"I knew that there was a reason, other than the fact that you're fucking annoying, why I hated you."

"What do you−

"Don't fucking act like you don't know what I'm talking about Scarlet! I'm gonna fucking kill you! You bitch!" I lunged at her but I fell short and hit the floor.

"Adrian you need to calm down." Satyr tried to soothe me as she stooped next to me and touched my head.

"I can't calm down! She's the reason...she's the fucking reason Cate doesn't know who the fuck I am. Oh my God Scarlet you better fucking run you sneaky bitch! I'm gonna fucking murder you with my bare fucking hands." I tried to get up but my body felt paralyzed and I knew it was some sort of witch power that kept me bounded to the ground. "Let me go! Fuck let me go now!"

"Adrian you can't hurt her. She's pregnant." Sidi sighed and bent down on the other side of me and I realized that it was her keeping me still.

"Fuck her and her fucking fetus! I don't give a fuck about either one of them."

"You would regret hurting them Adrian; especially your baby."

"Ughhh Sidi, no fucking disrespect but I do not care about Scarlet Parks or that thing growing inside of her. That was a mistake but it wasn't a fucking mistake when she stole Cate's memory!"

"Adrian honey please just−

"No! No! No! No! I do not care about either of them. I want Scarlet dead now let me go so I can rip her fucking throat out!"

"I'll just have to show you." Sidi sighed and placed her hands on both sides of my head and closed her eyes.

"Show me what? I don't wanna see any−

Again my mind went dark and I could see nothing but after a couple seconds I heard the sound of a child laughing.

"Again daddy again!"

"Ok, fine...but hey, last time and then you go to bed ok?"

She smiled and nodded and looked into my eyes excitedly.

I smiled at her and closed my eyes for a few seconds then reopened them allowing them to glow yellow.

Her laugh echoed throughout the entire room and the sound of it gave me a sense of comfort and happiness on the inside.

"Ok, now you go to bed." I smiled and my eyes returned to a plain brown. "I'll see you in the morning ok?"

"Daddy?"

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Can you stay with me tonight? I don't like sleeping alone." Her huge brown eyes stared into mine as she hugged her blanket.

"Of course I can baby." I smiled again and lay down next to her then laughed when she attempted to tuck me in. After several attempts I took control and tucked us both in to her pink bed that was way too small for the both of us but it had to do; at least for tonight.

"Good night daddy I love you."

"I love you too baby girl. Sweet dreams." I kissed her head softly and she grabbed me closer and hugged me tighter than she did to her blanket as she finally fell asleep slowly.

Sidi removed her hands way too soon. I wanted to see her a bit longer. She was everything I didn't know I wanted. Sure it sucked that she was growing inside of a complete bitch but now that didn't matter. She was mine and I would do anything to keep her safe.

I looked at Sidi and smiled.

"Now do you see why you can't hurt her?" She stood up and I was free to move again.

I walked towards Scarlet slowly with the same amount of anger in me but no desire to hurt her; in fact, no desire to hurt the beauty inside of her.

"I'm not going to hurt you Scarlet."

She exhaled in relief but still looked at me cautiously.

"I won't hurt you now; I promise. But after my daughter is born, that promise is null and void."

I turned towards the opening of the cave and made my way outside.
