Cate's P.O.V

I removed the fuchsia pink matte from my lips and replaced it with a light coat of rose pink lip gloss; I didn't want to overdo my makeup as he thought I looked better without any at all. Combing my blond hair into a neat bun I admired the way the dress he bought me for tonight looked. The tanned silk material clung closely to my body highlighting and emphasizing every one of my curves. The tube mini dress finished a little above my knees...not too revealing yet exquisitely sexy. I looked at the clock and smiled when I saw that it was almost time. He would be here any minute now. After I buckled on my beige wedges onto my feet I look at myself one last time and decided that my hair would look better falling over my shoulders. As the golden locks fell his car honked outside and with a bright smile I grabbed my purse and headed for the door.

"Well, well, well... Miss Henderson; who on earth gave you a permit to look so damn good?" He stood on the doorstep and looked stunning. "These are for you." He smiled and handed over a bouquet of red and white roses.

"I love them Adrian they're so beautiful."

"They look like dried up weeds compared to you Catey." He tucked my hair away and kissed my cheek. His scent was heavenly. "Let's go."

I followed him into his car but admired this new and elegant version of him as we walked. Firstly, his skinny jeans were exchanged for a navy blue dress pants that wasn't too tight but looked great on him. Tucked into his pants was a silky black long sleeved shirt that hugged his muscled as though it was scared. To top it all off he wore a jacket that matched his pants over his shirt...no buttons...for that I was happy as it allowed his defined and well sculpted chest to meet my eyes. For once his hair was combed back neatly and his face well clean shaved. I could get used to this Adrian.

He opened my door and I got in and I watched as he ran across to his side and jumped into the car and immediately drove off wasting no time at all.

"Where are you taking me?" After a minute of silent driving I turned to him and touched his hair as he drove.

"To the beach." He didn't take his eyes off of the road.

"You bought me what I can only assume is a very expensive dress...to go to the beach?"

"That's right...now no more questions. You always ruin surprises." He smiled and rubbed my thigh for the rest of the drive.

I never thought I would say this but Adrian was right. He did bring us to the beach. I had to admit I was a bit upset that he made me get all dressed up to get sand in my toes but my mind quickly changed when he led me onto the jetty which was decorated with white lights and roses. All the way to the end sat a small white table topped with red rose petals and candles. On the left of the dinner area were three men dressed in white tuxedos playing their violins softly.

"I hope you're hungry...we're having seafood." He smiled and sat me down by the table.

"Oh my God Adrian this is all so amazing." My excitement was evident in my voice as I looked around. Who knew Adrian was so romantic? "I love this all so much thank you."

"You deserve this Cate." Leaning over the table he placed a soft kiss on my lips and handed me a glass of champagne.

By the end of our lovely spicy shrimp Alfredo and smoked buttered lobster the bottle of champagne was totaled. For dessert Adrian got us a triple layered chocolate fudge cake and chocolate mousse.

It was almost midnight when he stood up from the table and I thought it was time to go but instead he told the men playing the instruments that they could leave.

"Hey, they were lovely." I smiled and protested but he didn't respond. Bending down he pulled a speaker out from below the table and took his phone out. When the song began he smiled and held his hand out to me and I happily joined him, hugging his body and swaying with him.

"I love this song." I closed my eyes and danced with him to Marry me by Train.

"I know you do." I felt him kiss my neck softly as we danced. This had to be the best night of my life. I loved Adrian so much and I hoped that he knew that...I know that he did. I hugged him closer and smiled to myself. I almost lost him so many times before. Not anymore.

The song was over and I frowned when he let go of me immediately. I thought something was wrong but when I looked at him he was smiling.

"Adrian why did y−

My words and I think my heart froze as well when his knee touched the ground. His bright green eyes stared into mine and in his hand was a ring.

"So....would you?"

Tears began to fall out of my eyes and I remembered that my mascara wasn't waterproof but I couldn't care. I was not able to say the words just yet but I smiled and nodded and he slid the ring onto my finger.

It was beautiful. It was silver with small white diamonds and sapphires running interchangeably around the width and a bigger oval shaped sapphire in the middle.

"I love you Cate." He stood up and held me tightly in his arms. "That is never going to change."

"I love you too." I smiled and held his face, kissing him for as long as I could.

When she woke up the room was dark and cold and her eyes were wet.

"Adrian." She closed her eyes and whispered his name to herself. After realizing it was just a dream she felt like crying for real this time. Adrian was a stranger...wasn't he? She turned the light on and wondered why dreaming about a total stranger felt so real to her.

She was about to go back to sleep but instead she got up hurriedly and rushed to her dresser digging in each drawer in search of it.

"Where is it?" Shouting to herself she flung one of the drawers against the wall and her breathing increased with her frustration.

Ten minutes passed by all of which she spent sitting on the floor wondering where she had put it and then it slapped her in the face. Though she was frustrated and upset she smiled widely and pulled a box out from under her bed. Throwing the shoes and pieces of clothing out of it she grabbed a smaller box out and opened it slowly.

The silver shined in the light and the sapphire was just as beautiful as it was in the dream. Still smiling she kissed the ring that was buried deep in her pocket the day he rescued her and slid it slowly onto her finger where she knew it belonged.
