They knew the shortest way to the cabin by now, they ran there as fast as their legs would carry them. Adrenaline rushed through them in this short moment where they didn't have screens to see how the situation was evolving, for all they knew, the hunters could fall on them all at once and they would have no idea.
They made it to the cabin in record time, and rushed to the little annexed shed that they had turned into a security room. Namjoon turned back to his human shape and frantically looked through all the cameras.
''Hoseok has the scouts in chase, they aren't a threat for now. Yoongi and Taehyung are hidden on the border of the territory waiting for more hunters to show up. Jungkook and Jimin are halfway from there to the cabin, ready to bring in the extra muscles if things get tough. So far, so good.''
For a couple of minutes everybody waited, J-Hope kept the scouts distracted, letting them chase him but staying far from the reach of their bullets.
Suddenly, Yu noticed that Yoongi's ear were perked up on the camera in front of which he was waiting.
''I think Yoongi heard something'' Namjoon said, noticing the same thing. ''Nobody move a hair, we need to know how many hunters there are before we decide our course of action.''
A man dressed up in full camouflage gear holding what seemed to be an automatic weapon triggered the first camera.
''Last time they came they only had hand guns! This thing can fire way too many rounds per second for us to efficiently dodge! Do not, I repeat, do not chase them right now, we have to let them get in the territory and hope they get stuck in our traps or find the shack on their own. Hoseok, try to lose your assailants; if reinforcements find you, you're toast.''
''If Hoseok is in a bad spot I can go make a diversion!'' Yu suggested.
''No. We have to stick to the plan, we need you here.'' Jin said, while putting a reassuring hand on Yu's shoulder. ''Have trust in them, they won't let you down.''
Namjoon's whole body tensed up and he swallowed loudly.
''They're here.''
Yu looked at the screen Namjoon's eyes were locked on.
They had approximated the number of hunters that would attack between 10 and 20. Hunters were a rarity, even more so than werewolves, and, considering that fact, not many of them would be likely to live close by, on top of being inclined to wage war on a pack of wolves.
Hunters were not really warriors, they hunted in the night, by putting traps, so most would not agree to a frontal assault. 20 hunters seemed like an unreasonably large number considering these facts.
Only, the cameras showed no less than the unexpected twenty, and more seemed to be surging out of the woods.
''I think the guys I killed had a lot more friends than we thought...'' Yu said her heart nearly jumping out of her chest.
''Change of plan. There are too many of them, about thirty, maybe forty. We have to find a way to make them split up and lure each group here separately.'' Namjoon said visibly worried. ''Taehyung, you're the fastest runner... I'm sorry to ask this of you, but you'll have to open the chase. Don't try to fight, just run towards Jungkook's location and lure the group there.'' Namjoon said.
''Jimin, Jin, quickly go to Jungkook's location, we'll try to split the group in three or four smaller sections there. Yoongi, you stay at the border and make sure nobody else comes.'' Namjoon added through the microphone as Jin shifted, ready to go lend a hand.
''Hoseok has been running for a while, he has stamina, but everyone has a limit. He won't be strong enough to fight if they catch him after such a long run...'' Yu said looking worriedly at Hoseok on a screen as his pace was slowing down.
''What do you suggest?'' Namjoon asked.
''The hunters after Hoseok are much deeper in the territory. If they stumble on us and find the shack they will send the whole mob here and we can't deal with that. I'll go deal with them and bring back Hoseok as reinforcement. After a little rest he can help us split the groups.'' Yu said, resolve burning in her eyes.
''Hoseok, lead them to the shack, Yu will intercept you on the way there.'' Namjoon said, as Yu shifted and ran out of the shed, towards Hoseok's location.
She sprinted as fast as her legs would carry her, until she caught Hoseok's scent close by.
Four hunters were trailing behind Hoseok, she could hear their bullets ricocheting uselessly around the quick wolf. Yu's wolf crawled in a dense bush and she shifted back to a human waiting for them to pass by.
When the last hunter of the bunch walked by her bush, she jumped out silently and wrapped his neck in a choke hold until he fainted.
The second to last one turned around to notice his missing friend and Yu kicked his gun away before he could even think of shooting. He reached for a device she could only assume was a talkie-walkie and she punched him in the throat, making him stumble backwards before grabbing the hand he was reaching towards the device.
She flipped the man's arm so brutally it cracked with a sound she recognised at the one made by broken bones. Before he could let out a pained scream, she had started shifting and her right hand, now a paw adorned by sharp claws, ripped through his throat, silencing his yet to be scream.
Hoseok stopped running and jumped on the neck of the first man chasing him, his teeth closing onto his jugular. The last man standing shot Hoseok but only managed to hit his bulletproof vest before Yu jumped on him from behind.
The four scouts were down in a matter of seconds and Hoseok followed Yu back to the shack for a well-deserved break.
They reverted back to their humans shape to fit in the small shed and Hoseok let himself slump on the floor, taking a breather.
''Thanks Yu, you saved me back there... How are the others doing?'' Hoseok asked.
When Namjoon turned around, his expression was that of panic.
''They need saving too!''
