They weren't kidding when they said they were loading up on protein! Since the day before they had eaten about a week's worth of food! Yu went to bed feeling so full she almost feared the thought of breakfast in the morning!

Maybe it was all that food that kept her from falling asleep. She held the chick plush Jimin had given her, against her to try to calm herlsef down, to no avail.

She tossed and turned, pondering how she would ever manage to transform...

She had done it many times before, she couldn't have truly forgotten. She knew the answer was inside of her, hiding, but she dreaded digging into her memories and finding more than what she had bargained for...

''You can do it Yu... Don't let the fear win, you're safe, you're the one in control...'' she muttered, trying to reassure herself as she closed her eyes.

She knew what she had to do, all the memories she was fighting back; she had to invite them in. She had to dig and find how she used to transform. She didn't remember much, so she had to reach as deep as far as she could, like a climber throwing a rope up a cliff and hoping his hook would catch a solid hold on the way back.

She couldn't know which of her memories was the oldest, but they all had a common point.

She searched in her mind and stared right into the eyes of the beast.

All my memories revolve around you, like I can only remember the things that happened when you were there. There has to be a time when I transformed in front of you. My transformation; I have to see it...

Suddenly, the room seemed like it disappeared around her and the cold of winter bit her skin.

''I try but I can't do it...'' she heard her voice complain, she sounded younger, much younger, childlike even. ''I try to see myself turn but I stay the same...''

''Tsk-tsk...'' a warm voice said; it was the red eyed beast, but he looked younger as well, happier too, and he talked to her in a sweet manner. ''You're seeing this the wrong way my dear...''

''The wolf and you are two side of a coin. The wolf is always there, it's a complete being, like you and me, just sleeping.

You both share the same soul and are intimately linked, but you are two minds with different desires and personalities. Treat your wolf as such, as a being other than yourself.

It's a beast with power and pride, one that demands respect. Call onto her to wake her up and ask for her strength...'' the man explained, his red eyes patient and full or warmth.

Yu sat up straight in her bed and the sun had risen. She had fallen asleep and slept the whole night, but it felt like the memory unfolded over no more than a couple of seconds.

The red eyed beast used to be... kind... The memory didn't sit well with her, he was a monster, a killer, a... friend? Yu felt her heart clench and a tear rolled on her cheek.

The memory wasn't a sad or a traumatic one for once, but she wished she hadn't remembered. It was easy to fear and hate the monster that had her under his control, but knowing he had taken the place of someone she used to look up to was hard to bear.

What had happened for the man to change? What was their true relationship?

One answer came with a hundred more questions and her heart grew yet another pound heavier...
