Chapter 53 : The Choice

Yu ran towards her and Yoongi's room like a gust of wind and she started furiously rummaging through books, folding the corner of any page that related to her search. Book after book, it came up, the one single piece of information that they had since the start, but completely overlooked.

When the boys came to the conference room in the early morning they found Yuki, immersed in a book, looking tired and discheveled, but her eyes bright with hope.

She put her book down and looked up at the boys, a tired smile on her face.

''I made my decision! I pick all of you!'' the girl said hapilly.

The seven men looked at Yu like she was a lunatic that just said the most absurd thing that could ever be said.

''You need some sleep sweetie... We know making this decision has been hard on you...'' Jin said reassuringly, while gesturing for her to sit down.

''We agreed that we put too much pressure on you with that decision. We'll have a battle and fight it out, fair and square, the winner takes all.'' Namjoon explained.

Yu shook her head vigorously and started rummaging through the pile of books on the middle of the table. She flipped pages furiously for a couple of seconds and slammed the book on the table.

''The family tree of King Lycaon...'' Jungkook read as the title of the page.

"We know that humans and werewolves have difficulty to reproduce so having many offspring's is unlikely, yet, King Lycaon has so many children. Why?'' Yuki asked.

''There are three main branches on the page, all of them are connected to Lycaon but there's nothing written about his wife...'' Jin remarked.

''The first name on every branch in a female name, but female werewolves are a rarity and I distinctively remember my father saying that king Lycaon had three sons and no daughters.'' Yuki explained. ''At first I thought that the family tree was just wrong, but there is a better explanation...''

''You can't mean...'' Namjoon said, his expression changing from perplexed to surprised.

''The three female names are King Lycaon's three wifes.'' Yuki declared.

''That's impossible! Werewolves are monogamous. Once the mating ritual is accomplished they cannot reproduce with anyone but their mate...'' Namjoon argued.

''You said it yourself, king Lycaon is the first of his kind, he wasn't bound by the same rules as us...'' Yuki said, ''Werewolves grew weaker with every generation of human bloodline, but I'm not just a werewolf or a lycan; I'm King Lycaon's grand daughter, maybe the rules also don't apply to me!''

''That's a stretch, it's only a theory, there would be no way to verify it.'' Yoongi said.

''The universe is a place of balance. Jay is a force of nature, he seems unstoppable, but an opposed strength, just as powerful as him has to exist. The existence of a female Lycan is so unlikely, yet here I am.'' Yuki said.

''A female lycan is unheard of...'' Hoseok admitted.

''What were the chances of me stumbling on your territory and getting shot by this hunter...'' Yu added

''Do you want actual numbers? I would need a map and a calculator...'' Namjoon said, half joking.

''What were the chances of us eight meeting? Of me being so fragile that I would let you help me, of you earning my trust and of me choosing to stay here?'' Yuki said, with growing excitement.

''It's a lot of luck I guess...'' Yoongi said, still unimpressed by Yu's speech.

''No. It isn't luck; it's destiny! We all met for a reason.'' Yu replied.

''We're a pack without an alpha... a small pack of seven... Any other pack would have been a better asset for you to go to war against Jay.'' Jimin said, crossing his arms.

''This is why this whole situation is so perfect! If you had surrendered to an alpha like any other pack this wouldn't work. If it wasn't the seven of you, it wouldn't work!'' Yuki said

''I don't follow you...'' Jin said.

''Even with two alpha this pack could not defeat the red eyed beast,'' Yuki said, waiting for the boys to catch on.

''You can't mean!'' Yoongi said, getting up as realisation hit him.

''The alpha's mate also become an alpha. They are the king and queen of the pack. But what if I become the alpha and make the seven of you my mates.'' Yuki said, her eyes shining with anticipation. ''If we do one single mating ceremony for all of us, it just might work...''

It took the boys a second to process her absurd proposition.

''It's ridiculous. It's all just suppositions!'' Namjoon said, crossing his arms.

''This isn't logical, this isn't plausible, thinking this will work is like hoping for a miracle... but meeting you was already a miracle... '' Yuki explained.

''What if you're wrong. We need a new moon for the ceremony. If you're wrong and the ceremony fails we'll be left with no alpha at all and Jay will have a full month to catch up to us before we can try again.'' Namjoon replied.

''The safe option is to pick one of us as-'' Yoongi started.

''But I can't choose one of you as my mate! Whenever we touch, my gut is screaming that each one of you is the right one ... None of you can be the one, because all of you are! This isn't logical, this is senseless and ridiculous, but this is the only answer that feels right...'' Yu said before looking at each of the boys in the eyes.

It took a couple of seconds for them to gather thir thoughts before Jin finally spoke.

''Yu, are you sure of what you're saying right now?''

''I have never been more certain of anything in my entire life; I have made my decision and I chose all of you.'' The girl said her expression serious.

Silence fell and they all looked at each other.

''Do you accept me?'' Yuki asked solemnly.

''I do.''Jin said, with a soft smile.

He looked like a fairy tale prince smiling at his queen.

''I do.'' Jungkook said, his usual nervousness was gone and his eyes were filled with resolve.

''I do'' Jimin said without an ounce of hesitation.

''This is crazy and bound for failure... but I can't say no to you... so I do...'' Namjoon said, with an amused expression

''I sure do!'' J-hope said with an expression of pure joy.

''I do too...'' Taehyung, said his expression trying to look cool but a smile escaping the corner of his lips.

''Fine if everyone agrees I guess I'm in...'' Yoongi said, pulling off the ''trying to act cool'' act only a bit better than Taehyung.

''Then let's start prepping the ritual.'' Yuki said, radiating confidence.
