Chapter 27: Warning

She was running by Jungkook's side and they were halfway home when a smell stopped her in her track.

Jungkook noticed and stopped right next to her.

''Three male wolves were right here just a couple of minutes ago...''

''Maybe the boys came to look for us.'' Jungkook said.

''No, it's none of the boy's smell. They're headed for the house...'' Yu said, her expression turning serious. ''This isn't a friendly jog anymore, try to follow me and when we reach the end of the woods stay hidden until we know it's safe.''

''I want to help.''

''You'll help more by staying back and coming in as reinforcement if things turn sour.'' Yu explained her voice morphing into a growl as she was already shifting.

Jungkook followed along her lead, but by the time he was done transforming, Yu was already far ahead of him. Her speed as a wolf was no joke!

They made it to the limits of the woods and Yu turned back as she crossed the backyard of the house, her scent would be less pronounced as a human and she could sneak closer to the house to investigate.

''No need to be so careful, we came in peace, that's why there's only me and two of my lieutenant, when our pack is close to thirty people. We don't want bloodshed, quite the opposite, what we're seeking is an alliance.'' An unknown voice said.

''An alliance? Why would a powerful pack like yours want to fuse with a small pack like ours? We're not fighters; we've never participated in any conflicts. Most packs don't even know ours exist...'' Namjoon replied.

''Rumour has it your small pack without fighters has managed to kill a couple of hunters and escape unscathed.'' The stranger added.

''You shouldn't pay too much attention to rumours. Yes some hunters died on our turf, but they were killed by bullets, they probably got into an argument that ended in a shootout.'' Namjoon lied seamlessly.

''My sources told me that one of the hunter lived and that's not the version of the story he's giving. He was scared shitless and looking everywhere for every little tidbits of intel about you lot. That tells me you're powerful enough to be worthy allies.'' The man explained.

''I'm not against an alliance, but everything will depend on your terms.'' Namjoon said calmly.

''You lot have the energy of youth, but you lack experience. I've been an alpha for almost twenty years, if we unite our packs under my leadership we'll become a force to be reckoned with.''

''So you're expecting us to pledge allegiance an alpha we've never met? This is not an alliance, this is just asking us to submit our pack and land to you. Don't insult us with such a ridiculous proposal.'' Yoongi spoke, in an offended tone.

''Then you will die when the hunters come for revenge, and trust me, that won't be too far from now.'' The alpha said sadistically.

''Aren't the hunters a threat to you too? We could become allies to defeat them without fusing our packs.'' Jin intervened, trying to act as a peace maker.

''The hunters don't want us dead yet, so why would I take a useless risk and face them head on? Once you're all dead and hopefully you've taken out a good chunk of the hunters down with you, we'll just take over your territory .'' the alpha said.

''So you just intend on taking over our territory both ways?'' Yoongi said, his harh tone almost a growl.

''Suggesting an alliance is simply curtesy on my part, because wasting such young talent would be a shame. You can bow to me and live or refuse my offer and die, whichever way you pick I will still get my way.'' The alpha added in a matter of fact tone.
