Everything was calm and normal in Hawkins for almost a whole year. Jonathan and I were having the time of our lives together. We were each other's support system, always there for one another when we needed a shoulder to cry on. Our relationship had moved on to the next level. We were in love and we knew it.
Though of course, peace never lasts forever and we found ourselves facing a new threat. Once again, everyone joined forces to get rid of the evil that lurked our town. Eleven returned and we joined together to save everyone and close the gate. All seemed to be well after that, so Jonathan and I returned to getting caught up in our romantic and intimate relationship. Hopefully that was the end of it.
I never want to look down on hope but, man, was I wrong for hoping...

June 28, 1985
I giggle as Jonathan lifts me up and throws me on the bed. He climbs on top of me and we start making out when suddenly, the sound of machinery powering down makes me pull away. We both look up, noticing that the entire house is pitchblack. "Looks like the power went out," I point out. "Yup, looks like..." Jonathan responds. We both look at each other and shrug before getting back to business.
The Next Morning
I wake up and roll over to see Jonathan sleeping peacefully. I smile and roll onto my back again, closing my eyes. Then my eyes shoot open and I sit up abruptly in realization.
"Shit!" I gasp. I grab the watch from the bedside table and look at the time. Oh fuck, I'm late.
"Oh my gosh. No, no, no, no, no," I exclaim frantically.
Jonathan sits up, surprised and asks, "wh- what's wrong?"
I answer, "It's almost 9:00."
"What?!" he asks as he looks over at his alarm which inaccurately read 12:00. He fumbles with the blanket, trying to get out of bed. "Oh, shit!"
"We forgot to reset the clocks. The power went out last night, remember?" I chatter as I stand up, wearing only my underwear and one of Jonathan's t-shirts.
I begin to change into a pink dress while Jonathan struggles to put his clothes on. He jumps over the bed and falls over as he's attempting to put his pants on.
As soon as I'm dressed, I exit through the bedroom window and begin sprinting to his car. I lean against the car as I put on my heels, waiting for him to come and unlock the doors. We pick up Nancy on our way to work and we both ramble on about how poorly the men at the office treat us. Nancy was working there as an assistant and Jonathan and I as intern photographers. It was obvious that they didn't see me as equal to Jonathan, they gave him more photography-related assignments while I was tasked with cleaning up the red room.
When Nancy answered a phone call about diseased rats eating fertilizer, we saw it as an opportunity to prove ourselves. We convinced Jonathan to come along with us as we pursued the story. This eventually got us fired, however. Little did we know that these rats were only a tiny piece of the giant puzzle. Once again, it was time for another epic adventure of fighting stranger things with the gang.

Eleven used her powers to find Billy, which resulted in the Mind Flayer telling her that it was building something for me and El. It flayed all those people to create an army to stop us. It also threatened to kill everyone, so that's nice.
A faint rumbling sound captured my attention, and it seemed to have caught Nancy's too. She walked up to the window and asked, "do you guys hear that?"
"It's just the fireworks," answered Jonathan after a few seconds.
"I doubt it," I said as I walked up to stand next to Nancy. My eyes widen in realization and I turn to look at El.
"When you talked to Billy, was it in here?" I asked. El nodded.
Everyone looked around as thudding noises were heard in the distance. Will suddenly looked petrified as he brought his hand to the back of his neck. "He knows we're here."
We all headed outside the cabin and there it was, coming in our direction. A giant spider-looking creature made out of flesh. The Mind Flayer. Fear flooded my veins as I saw it crawling towards us. Everyone dispersed to prepare for battle. Nancy got a gun from the shack and Jonathan grabbed an axe. I helped the kids cover the doors and windows. We all stood in a circle in the middle of the room, waiting for the Mind Flayer to attack. Everything in the small cabin began to shake as it got closer. The anticipation in the room was high.
The lights flickered and the shaking got worse. "It's close," announced Will.
It continued on like this until it suddenly stopped and got quiet. "Where'd it go?" questioned Max. The only thing that could be heard was our shuddered breathing.
All of a sudden, a snake-like thing burst through the wall, shoving me to the floor and going right for El. She backed up into the wall, frightened. Before it could get her, I held my hand out and stopped it with my telekinesis. Jonathan took the opportunity to start hitting it with the axe and chopped the tentacle in half. Another one zoomed through the same hole in the wall and sent him flying towards the floor. Nancy began to shoot at it but she quickly ran out of bullets. She pressed her back against the wall in fear and the tooth-filled tentacle launched itself at her. I was going to stop it but El beat me to it. She pulled her arm down, tearing the top part of the tentacle off. It withdrew right back out the same hole it came in through.
"Holy shit," exclaimed Max before yelping and ducking. That thing shot back inside right at Eleven and I, who were standing in the middle of the room. I swiftly put my hand up and held it back before it could touch me. Another one hurtled at us and I did the same thing with my other hand. I then bent my elbows downward and sharply brought my arms down to tear the disgusting tentacles apart.
The Mind Flayer broke through the ceiling all of a sudden and snatched El's leg with one of it's toothy tentacles from its enormous mouth. Everyone screamed and Mike quickly latched onto her arms, the others copying his actions. I formed a ball of energy and was about to aim it at the Mind Flayer until another tentacle zoomed in from a window and yanked me towards the sky by my ankle.
I let out an ear-piercing scream and heard Jonathan yell, "y/n!"
He grabbed my arms while Will and Max held onto El with one arm and grabbed onto me with the other. They pulled me towards them and I continued to scream in agony.
"Nancy, shoot it!" Jonathan shouted in despair.
She reloaded her gun as fast as she could and shot at the two tentacles that had a hold of El and I. It didn't seem to be working, so Lucas seized the axe and began hacking at the tentacle that was latched onto El. Nancy kept shooting at the monster's face while Lucas continued chopping. He eventually succeeded and Eleven collapsed on top of Mike. It still had me though, so he began to chop away again.
"Let go of my right hand!" I ordered and they obeyed.
My eyes glowed purple and I created the biggest ball of energy that I could and fired it at the fleshy creature. It rapidly let go of my ankle and retracted the tentacle back into its mouth. I toppled on top of Jonathan and sobbed in pain as he pet my hair and tried to comfort me.
All of a sudden I heard a high-pitched screech and looked over to see that Mike had yanked a piece of the creature from El's leg. I quickly scrambled to my feet and helped her stand up. We were both bloody-nosed, injured, and breathing heavily. We held onto each other for support and looked up to see the Mind Flayer roaring loudly at us.
We looked at each other and firmly nodded before sticking our hands up towards the cieling. We yelled out in rage and ripped the beast's head in half. El fell back into Mike's arms and I into Jonathan's.
Nancy started yelling, "go, go, go!" We had some time to escape before the Mind Flayer fixed itself back up.
"Come on, come on, Go!" shouted Jonathan as he helped me out of the cabin.
"GO!"
"Hurry up, come on!"
Everyone kept yelling to get out and we all hurried out and piled into Nancy's car. Eleven and I wailed in pain as we hit the car seat.
"Drive! Drive!" Mike started yelling and Nancy rapidly started the car and sped away.

We drove to Starcourt Mall where I saw a group of armed men looking for someone in the foodcourt. They must be after our friends. El was about to step up to help but I stopped her. "Save your energy," I said before limping ahead of everyone and flinging a car at the men. We met up with our friends and started catching each other up on the situation at hand. Suddenly, El collapsed. A piece of the Mind Flayer was inside her leg and Jonathan tried to dig it out.
El started yelling for him to stop. "You want me to do it?" I offered. She shook her head.
"I can do it," she cried. "I can do it."

The Mind Flayer was about to kill El, but a firecracker popped on its back before it could. It turned around and Lucas yelled, "flay this, you ugly piece of shit!" It roared at him, so he threw another one right into the monster's mouth.
"Hurts, doesn't it?!" I bellow as I launch a firecracker at it. Jonathan stood next to me as we all flung firecracker after firecracker.
I hurled another one then paused when I caught sight of Billy choking out El. "These aren't gonna hold it back forever, I have to go help El," I told Jonathan as I was about to run off.
Jonathan tugged on my arm, "no, you're not fully recharged yet! You're gonna get yourself killed!"
"I know I'm strong enough to hold it back until the gate is closed. I have to try," I state, racing away to save El.
When I make it downstairs, Billy is standing in front of the Mind Flayer with balled up fists. "What's he doing," I wonder. A tentacle flies towards El but doesn't reach her, thanks to Billy. I gasp as I see him pushing it back. I immediately step in and break the thing away from Billy's hands. He turns around shocked.
"Get her out of here," I command and he does what I say.
The Mind Flayer directs another tentacle towards Billy and El but I swiftly stop it with my mind. I have never felt more enraged or in pain my entire life until now. This monster has messed with our lives long enough. I focused on all that pent up anger and channeled it. My eyes lit up and I felt large amounts of energy surging through my body. I was radiating purple energy. I glanced at my hands before firmly holding my arms out in a W shape. Multiple tentacles flew my way and I caught them all (like Wanda Maximoff).
Out of nowhere, the monster began to stumble around and collapsed. The gate was finally closed. I sigh in relief and fall to my knees, exhausted like never before.

I walk behind Jonathan to his room and stand at the door, just staring inside. "Are you all packed?" I asked, standing next to him.
"I think so," he softly responded. He sighed wistfully and walked into the room.
"Seventeen years of my life... packed up in one day."
I step up behind him and wrap my arms around his waist, and we start to sway side to side.
"I don't want you to go," I confess, on the verge of tears.
"Hey," he whispers as he pulls me in front of him and gently takes my hands. "It's gonna be okay... You're the girl I waited for for years. Nothing is gonna keep me away from you," he reassured me as he caressed my cheek.
I blush and grin at him. "So what's a few more years, right?"
He chuckles softly, lifting my hand up to his lips and pressing a gentle kiss to it. "Exactly," he confirms.
We lean in and share a sweet kiss, then wrap our arms around each other and hug for what felt like forever.
"I love you, Jonathan Byers."
"I love you more, Y/n Sinclair."
