"A rebound? A fucking rebound! Who do they think I am and since when did I get the name 'playboy' when?! I'm not a playboy and Yeri certainly isn't a rebound. Why can't they just let me live in peace?!" Chaehyun kicked the laundry basket that sat by his desk as he fell into his desk chair, eyebrows knitted together and nose scrunched up masking his face with an angry pout. "Who the hell is this 'inside source' anyway, the only other people who know about this relationship is our families and the staff---wait do you think it could be my Dad?"
Mark, Doyoung and Yuta were seated on Chaehyun's bed watching as he fell apart angrily before them. Taeyong being the leader jumped right into action the second the news outlet leaked the news and was now on a call with NCT's manager. Of course, the company would have to confirm the relationship and as much as Chaehyun loves his fans, he wanted to keep this relationship private for at least two months. It's much easier to keep a relationship going in private rather than with everyone knowing.
So far, fans seemed supportive but he had seen a wide range of people who are unhappy with the news and the thought of them sending Yeri hate for being his girlfriend knocked him sick to his stomach. Yeri had suffered a great deal when she first joined Red Velvet and though the hate seemed to have died down, he didn't want to be the reason why it all got stirred up again. Chaehyun leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, running his hands through the messy black hair.
"To be honest, it's better they found out now than in a few months time. I think their reaction will be better knowing sooner than later," Mark adviced.
Chaehyun nodded. He understood that but he wasn't particularly happy about it. He loved his job, but the lack of privacy bothered him. Of course, he knew that it came with the job of being an idol and he was extremely grateful for what he had but he wouldn't deny that the reduction of privacy bothered him. Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door to Chaehyun's room. He switched his gaze from his friends to the opening door and just as he turned he spotted a stressed Yeri entering the room.
"Who the hell is this inside source because I'm gonna break their legs!" Though the seriousness of the situation lingered in the air, the four boys couldn't help but chuckle. The younger girl closed the door with a little more force than normal and threw herself down next to Mark, arms folded and eyes narrowed.
"She did the exact same thing as Chaehyun when he sat down. Maybe soulmates do exist," Yuta pointed out with a laugh.
Chaehyun rolled his eyes before glancing at his girlfriend. "We think the inside source is my Dad but we can't be too sure. Only our groups, staff and families know and that's quite a lot. Half the staff we barely know so long story short: it could be pretty much anybody."
"We can rule out the members, they wouldn't do that to us. Also, give me your hoodie im cold."
"Demanding much," Chaehyun mumbled but he shut up within seconds after seeing the warning glance that Yeri gave him. He pulled off his hoodie, revealing a tiny bit of his abs making the three boys whistle. Yeri glared at them as Chaehyun threw her the hoodie.
"Mine."
The three held their hands up in defence.
"Actually, he belonged to Lucas way before you had him--okay, I'll shut up because the look she's giving me right now is terrifying." Mark turned back to face Chaehyun looking mildly afraid.
"Even Chae is afraid of her. Damn Yeri how do you do it. Can we call you when we want him to do what we say because he's a troublemaker and misbehaves way too much," Doyoung chimed in.
Yeri sent a smirk towards her boyfriend. "Anytime. You have my number."
Chaehyun's mouth dropped open at the betrayal going on right before his eyes. He scoffed and slouched in his seat. Chaehyun folded his arms and threw one foot on his desk; he looked like a five-year-old.
"Awww is Chaechae sad?" Yeri cooed, reaching out to pinch her boyfriend's cheeks.
"Yah! Hands off."
After the small joking session, the group went back to looking up the reactions of fans and brainstormed ideas on who the hell could be the inside source. They eventually decided to just leave it up to the company to sort, but Chaehyun couldn't get rid of the unsettling feeling in his stomach.
