Callie P.O.V
The man who Bruce had referred to as 'Tony' just lifted me out of Bruce's lap saying, "Come see Daddy." Daddy? Am I supposed to call him that now? Not that it's a big deal, but I begin to wonder if Bruce is going to spring some new name on me. I suppose I have other names too... I've been called many hateful things, not very many people call me Callie.
I'm a little disappointed that we're done riding in the... the... the machine that moves. I've never seen anything like that before, at least not that I can remember, all my memories consist of pain and darkness. Basically, my life's been pretty shit up to this point, but I have a feeling I'm about to make a bunch of new memories, I'm excited and terrified all at once.
Tony shifts me to his other arm and I wince, pain shoots through my side and arm, he seems to notice and quickly switches back.
"Sorry, you're in a lot of pain aren't you?" He asks, his voice and eyes laced with concern.
I'm caught in his eyes for a moment, no one has ever looked at me like that before. But I remember myself and quickly avert my gaze and shrug my shoulder; I won't admit to being weak, I still don't know what I'm doing here or what they have planned for me.
He sighs and then says, "Look, Callie, that's our jet, it's going to fly us home." I look in the direction that Tony (or Daddy?) is pointing and I don't really understand what I'm looking at.
It looks similar to what we rode in to get here, but way bigger, it's black and has two arms that stretch out the sides, the back of it is open... and I guess it's called a jet, maybe the thing we rode in on the way here is a "mini-jet" that would make sense.
"I designed it," he boasts, "It goes fast, super fast. We'll be home before you know it." I can hear the smile in his voice, and I don't know what home means but he's said it twice now, and I like the way he says "us and we" so I think I'm okay with it, whatever it is.
When we get to the jet Bruce has finally caught up to us and we enter the open end of the machine. The inside is fairly dark, there are seats lining each side but otherwise, it's pretty empty. It narrows towards the front and there are two large chairs set in behind a bunch of blinking lights. Suddenly a figure stands up from one of the seats, startled I grasp onto Daddy's jacket and pull my face to his shoulder.
"It's okay it's just Natasha," he whispers.
"How'd it go?" asks a woman's voice.
As they discuss how they retrieved me, I take a moment to focus in on the feelings I'm sensing around the room. There aren't any of the feelings I'm accustomed to in the room, no disgust or hate so for that I'm relieved.
"Are you guys ready to get going?" asks the woman that I assume is Natasha.
"Yeah, we're ready to go home aren't we Callie?" Daddy asks.
I pull my eyes away from his shoulder and look Natasha square in the face and nod, for a split second her face holds a look of horror, but she quickly recovers and gives me a warm smile.
"Okay, let's go home," she says.
