Third Person POV:
Y/n sits in the pilot's cockpit with Happy while Peter sticks to the side of the jet on Happy's side. "Alright, comms check. Can you two hear me?" Happy speaks up.
Y/n touches her ear upon hearing the man's voice in it. "Yup, I can hear you."
"Yeah, I can. It's just a little loud out here!" Peter responds.
Happy and the girl peer at him through the window. "I like the new suit," the man compliments the boy. A tiny grin forms on the girl's face as she thinks about how the color was influenced by her.
"Thanks!" Peter replies.
The city comes into view, where there's a giant grey cloud going from the ground to the sky. "Woah. You guys sure that's not real?" Happy questions.
"It's not real... but it sure is one hell of an illusion," y/n answers.
"And it's 100 times bigger than I expected," Peter adds.
"Still the play?" Happy asks, looking at the girl before turning to Peter.
"Uh-huh," the two confirm in sync. "We need to get high enough so Beck doesn't see me coming," Peter informs the man.
"Copy. Stay sticky," Happy states before flying the jet up higher. Y/n takes a deep breath as they get closer to the storm cloud. She knows it's fake but it looks awfully real. That's not the part that has her nervous, however.
"Hey, Happy," Peter pipes up.
"Yeah, kid. What is it?"
"We need to have a serious conversation about you and my aaaaunt!" the boy claims, screaming the last word as he lets go of the jet and falls toward the cloud. Happy turns his head to the window before glancing at the girl awkwardly. He didn't think Peter caught onto his relationship with May.
Y/n just shrugs. "Welp. That's my cue," she announces before teleporting out of the jet. She's suddenly right next to the angry cloud. It's not real, she reminds herself as she flies right through it. She finds herself inside it, in awe of what she's seeing. She looks all around her at all the drones in formation. "Woah..." she voices. Under different circumstances, this would be cool.
All of a sudden she hears a yell and looks down, seeing Peter land on a drone. The boy looks around as well, impressed. "Woah. That's awesome," he remarks.
Y/n drifts down to him and responds, "yeah, if you forget about the death and destruction part."
"Right," Peter utters before climbing on top of the drone he's hanging on to. "Alright. You ready?" he asks his girlfriend.
She nods. "Let's do this." With that, Peter starts jumping around, webbing various drones together while y/n destroys the drones around her with lavender blasts. The illusion begins coming apart from the top as she does so.
Then, Peter swings down, voicing, "I hope this works." He hits a button on his web-shooter, causing electricity to trickle up to all the webs he stuck onto the drones. This causes them to short-circuit, making the illusion undo even further and faster. Y/n smiles victoriously. "Y/n, I see Beck!" the boy suddenly declares, capturing her interest. She glances down, seeing him hopping from drone to drone toward a large hole in the illusion.
She flies toward the hole as well. Peter is about to jump at Beck when he's suddenly hit by a drone. Beck watches as the boy is sent flying over the bridge before he sees a lavender glow from his peripheral vision. His head snaps back to the window in front of him and he's startled when he sees y/n levitating there with glowing hands and eyes. "EDITH," he nervously voices. Right after he says that, a drone zooms toward y/n from behind her. However, before it could hit her, she swiftly turns around and sticks her hand up, stopping it.
The man's eyes widen at the sight. Y/n turns her head back to Beck and despite the lower half of her face being covered, he can tell she's smiling smugly. She flings the drone at him with full force and Beck quickly ducks and runs to the side as the drone shatters through the window. Unfortunately, it doesn't hit him but it manages to hit one of the drones inside the enclosed bridge with him. Beck looks up, seeing the girl lift her right hand toward him. He grunts as he's suddenly lifted off the ground by purple swirls. Y/n roughly lifts her arm up, making Beck fly up and hit the ceiling before she forcefully pushes her arm down, making him hit the floor hard.
The man groans in pain as he struggles to get up. "EDITH!" he yells desperately while y/n levitates into the hallway and gracefully lands in front of him.
"And now you have a taste of what it feels like to get hit by a train," she spitefully voices. Her hands are at her sides as she rolls her wrists, lavender orbs forming in her hands as she steps toward the man.
"Now!" Beck suddenly shouts. Y/n furrows her eyebrows and looks to her right, her eyes widening when she sees a drone aimed at her. She lifts her hands and forms a shield at the same time that the drone fires. The impact is super strong, however, causing her to yelp as she's thrown through the window behind her. She hits the next bridge behind the one Beck is on before falling to the ground below. She puts her hands in front of her, forming lavender magic to shield herself when she hits the ground.
She still gets hurt but not as badly as she might've without her small protective measure. She groans as she puts her hands on the ground to push herself up. Well, at least I hurt him first, she thinks. Now she knows he's afraid of her. She saw it when she was beating him up. She scrambles to her feet and scans her surroundings. She cranes her neck, spotting various drones flying around above her. She lowers her head, looking around until she sees Spider-Man sitting against a car.
She sprints toward him, calling out, "Peter!" She reaches him and bends down beside him, setting her hands on his shoulder and chest. "Are you okay?" she asks, concern filling her body when she sees him holding his ribs.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. You?" the boy returns.
"I'm okay," the girl replies. All of a sudden, they hear a loud explosion, making them look up to see a fire in the distance.
"Happy, are you okay?" Peter asks into the comms.
"Yeah, we're okay. Just go get Beck," Happy's voice sounds in their ears.
"We will," y/n responds. "Alright, come on. Get up," she addresses her boyfriend, straightening up and offering him her hand. He takes it and the girl pulls him up. Just then, numerous drones come zooming in their direction, shooting at them. The pair begins running as explosions rock the ground behind them. They get to the end of the bridge so they both jump off. Peter swings through the air while y/n flies, the drones on their tail. The girl turns around and fires purple blasts at the incoming drones, taking them down.
She continues to do this, protecting herself and Peter as they try to evade them but they won't stop coming. Peter lands on a car and y/n follows him, both of them leaning on the side of it to shield themselves. "Happy! Say something, I need to know you're alive!" y/n orders, hoping he's okay.
"Watch out!" Peter suddenly blurts, wrapping an arm around the girl to lower her head right before shots hit the car window above them. Holy shit, I almost got my head blown off, y/n thinks as the boy hugs her to his body protectively.
"I'm here. I'm here," Happy's voice sounds.
"Oh, Happy, thank God," Peter says in relief, still holding y/n.
"I bought us some time... but not much," the older man informs them.
"We're trying to get to Beck but we can't shake these drones!" Peter claims. "Y/n, hold on," he instructs the girl as he sticks a web to the vehicle. She holds onto the car and Peter shoots a web up, causing the car to lift into the air. The girl looks around as she and Peter sit on the now floating car. She thinks back to Peter's claim about not being able to get to Beck. I can, she thinks. It's time to play her wicked game.
She turns her head to her boyfriend and pipes up, "Pete, find a way to take out the drones. I got this."
The boy is confused by this. "Wait, what? Y/n-" Before he could continue talking, the girl poofs out in purple mist, leaving him shocked. What is she going to do? Why didn't she take him with her? He sighs. Guess I'll just get rid of these drones and then catch up with her and Beck, he thinks.
Meanwhile, y/n teleports into the hall behind Beck. "Hey, best friend," she speaks up in a taunting and playful tone. The man whirls around, stunned to see her there. He instantly taps on the pad on his arm, making the drones start shooting. Y/n briskly disappears in a cloud of purple before a bullet could touch her and the shooting stops. Beck lightly gasps, spooked by her sudden disappearance. He frantically spins around, searching for her. He stops when he spots Spider-Man a short distance away outside the window. He approaches the window and mutters, "gotcha" as he types away on his pad, ordering the drones to target Spider-Man.
He watches in satisfaction as the drones chase the masked hero, forgetting about the potential danger he's in right now. All of a sudden, y/n speedily whooshes up behind him and reaches her hand up to the side of his head, wiggling her fingers. Beck's eyes turn lavender and suddenly, he's inside Stark Industries. He looks around in shock as people in lab coats and black suits walk all around him.
"Wow."
Beck turns in the direction of the voice, seeing y/n walking over. "In a room with exceptional people, it's easy to turn invisible among them," she states. She stands in front of a large portrait of Tony, glancing at it before fixating her eyes on Beck. "Always in the presence of a great man, never the great man... That must suck," she taunts, sending him a mock-pitiful expression.
Beck scowls at her. "You think I'm gonna give into your little mind game?" he retorts.
Y/n tilts her head. "I thought you liked games. I mean, haven't you been playing a cute little illusion game on everyone this whole time?" she mocks, grinning. Beck remains quiet as he just glares at her. Y/n walks around him as she continues talking. "You know, I understand your frustration, I do. It must've been hard being on the sidelines while Tony got all the recognition. All the praise. And on top of that, he fires you because you are unstable." She suddenly kicks the back of the man's knee and shoves him to the floor. He grunts as he lands harshly. When he lifts his head, he notices that the setting has changed.
"Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing, or BARF."
He sees Tony Stark standing onstage and realizes he's standing backstage behind a curtain. Y/n comes up and stands next to him. "Once again on the sidelines," she states, keeping her eyes on Tony. She releases a mocking chuckle and remarks, "man, jealousy is a bitch, ain't it?" They continue to watch Tony give his speech. Under a different circumstance, y/n would allow herself to feel her emotions over her late adoptive father, but she can't afford to right now.
Tony removes his glasses and looks at them before gazing at the audience. "Oh, $611 million for my little therapeutic experiment."
"So what pisses you off more? That your technology was used for therapy or that it was renamed 'BARF?" y/n mockingly questions. "I think BARF is a great name, it has humor. And self-therapy is probably a much better use for this tech than whatever psychotic idea I don't doubt you had," she adds, scoffing. "Tony must've smelled the crazy on you." Beck's jaw clenches and he squeezes his fists as the anger brews inside him. Meanwhile, y/n is getting a kick out of this. He messed with her head badly, now she's returning the favor.
"I mean, what kind of person goes through so much trouble and kills countless people all because he wants to play Avenger...? The reason no one listened to you wasn't that you didn't have powers or an iron suit... It was because you had nothing good to offer the world. Nothing anyone wanted or cared about," she taunts. This enrages Beck and he lets out a loud yell, tackling the girl.
Y/n grunts when she hits the floor, thus breaking the illusion. Beck wraps his hands around her neck, choking her. The girl feels her throat closing and gasps for air. However, she manages to form magic in her hands, blasting him off of her. The man goes flying back and lands on the floor with a loud thud. The girl gasps loudly and coughs, trying to catch her breath. While she's doing that, Beck sits up and checks his pad to track Peter.
The boy has been able to evade and demolish some drones so he decides to up the damage. He types away on the pad, ordering the drones to emit huge energy waves. The waves send Peter flying back, hitting a car. The drones emit more energy waves, throwing everything in front of it back, including a vehicle that's in front of the boy. It hits Peter, causing both him and the car to fall off the bridge and into the water below. "Finally. Hey, William, how we doing?" Beck whispers.
"Illusion almost back up. I don't know how you're gonna spin this," William's voice sounds through his comms. Beck just smiles smugly. However, his smile disappears as fast as it appeared when he sees y/n stand back up and glare at him. Upset is too little of a word to describe the look in her eyes right now. The man would be lying if he said he's not afraid at all, but knowing he has a backup plan if Plan A goes wrong is comforting.
He plasters a smirk on his face and scoffs as the drone next to him aims its gun at the girl. "That's a nice trick you did but it's not enough to stop me."
