Kendall stormed upstairs, making me quite fazed as I stared at the spot she had just been sitting in.
"Well, that was a very nice chat," Khloe said sarcastically.
"Yeah, you should've been a little less like a jerk, though," Kim sided in. "It would've lasted a little longer than this if you actually let her speak, too."
I squinted, "I did let her speak, she just didn't want to speak her mind out to me. All she wanted to say were the annoying things she knew I would be pissed, hearing."
Khloe nodded, "She got to you. Now what would you like to say?"
"I need a shower," I said, getting up and walking past them.
"No, you need to apologize," Kim said, following me. "You need to tell her that you're very sorry, and that you will never butt into her business again."
I turned around, "What? I thought you were the one who told me to butt into her business."
Khloe tilted her head, "We did, but you didn't know how, making Kendall hate you even more. Now before you go and take that hot shower you were planning on taking, why don't you apologize?"
I groaned, "As much as I would like to apologize, I also fee like a bad day's work, now will you please let me take a shower?"
Khloe frowned, "Here?"
I sighed, "No, obviously not—"
"Then no, because we still need you here," Kim cut, making me shake in patient fury.
"I want... to go... home," I said through gritted teeth.
"OK, hold still, don't go turning into the Incredible Hulk," Khloe said with a snort as she held my shoulders. "You've still got an apology to send."
I continued to groan as Khloe and Kim pushed me up the stairs for Kendall's bedroom.
"Guys—" I tried to stop the force of the both of them pushing me, but there wasn't enough friction. "guys— please, can we just talk about this first?"
"Talk about what?" Khloe said sweetly as she continued to guide me down the hall roughly.
"The fact that this isn't going to work," I said, as if it were the most obvious thing.
"We'll talk after you get the girl, buddy," Khloe said, making me huff. "Which is when it does work."
I was going to protest, when she knocked loudly on Kendall's door.
It swung open and her head poked out, "Hey— oh, it's you," she said, making me whirl around, seeing that Khloe and Kim was gone.
I scratched the back of my ear awkwardly, "Well, yeah, I just wanted to say I was sorry for what happened back there." I know I sounded nervous and suddenly just the opposite of confident, but I wanted to do what Khloe told me to; be nice and light.
"You're... sorry?" Kendall repeated.
I nodded, "Yeah, if you would forgive me for being a dick back there—"
"No," Kendall said, making my eye twitch slightly.
"...What?"
"No," Kendall said again in the same tone. "You weren't being a dick. I was trying to get rid of you like how I did before this whole thing. I'm not mad at you, or upset. I just... I want to be with you, Nick, but not in... that way. I wanna keep this friendship of ours."
My mouth opened slightly as I tried to summarize everything she had just said.
"I understand how you're feeling, but I don't get why you don't want to..." I trailed off, knowing deep down that none of this was going to work out in the end anyways.
"Nick, I'm sorry," Kendall said, opening the door all the way. "I really don't know what to do, and I just think that it would be much better if we decided to... keep whatever we had at first base."
I squinted, "First base? You want us to be complete strangers!?"
"No, of course, not, I want to keep everything pleasant without feeling awkward. if that's possible, of course," she added in an undertone.
I nodded slightly, "It probably would be possible, but I don't know, Kendall. It won't be for me, 'cause that small thing inside of me— that feeling I have towards you, will always be there forever."
Kendall sighed, "You remind me of Scott..."
I shook my head firmly, "Don't compare me to Scott. I want to be with you, Kendall, OK? I don't want you to just— drop this? That kid inside of you— how'll he react if you told him that we were broken up even before he was born? he'd be torn, Kendall—"
"OK, stop, I don't want to hear any more of this," Kendall said, shaking her head. "I don't want a relationship more than friends and parents with you, Nick. The baby will be fine, it'll know that its father wanted to try, but it didn't work because I couldn't bear it."
I started to feel a lump growing in my throat as tears threatened to fall, "Can it not go that way?" I said in a slightly shaky voice. "I don't want to, Kendall."
Kendall shook her head, "I can't. Everything's so fine for me at this point, can you please not bring it up—?"
"You're gonna stay with Zayn?" I interrupted.
"Yeah, he and I'll be going to the hospital after Palm Springs to get a sonogram of the baby," Kendall told me, making my heart drop to the pit of my stomach.
"You're gonna make him the father of my baby?" I said, slightly incredulously.
"I can't do anything about it, Nick, he doesn't want you around me anymore—"
"I'm around you right now," I said, shaking with fury. "Why isn't he hereto kick my ass, huh? Is this how it's gonna be? He doesn't CARE, Kendall—"
"It will change when the baby's here," Kendall said. "Now stop talking before I change my mind about the friendship and parental bond we have."
I jaw dropped slightly as I suddenly stop feeling angry, "I'm still the dad?"
"Yes, you're still gonna be the daddy."
I let out a sigh of relief as Kendall turned around to shut the door.
"Good night!" I called, after the door closed all the way.
I let out another frustrated sigh of defeat and turned around, hearing applaud coming from Kim and Khloe.
I gave them a weak stare, "What're you so happy about? She practically friend zoned me."
Khloe smirked, "I mean, you're still the daddy," she said, giving Kim a grin.
I couldn't help but chuckle, "You guys are kinky. Can I head home now?"
"Wait," Kim said, making turned back to them with another groan. "You will be at my house tomorrow, OK? We still have things to discuss."
I squinted, "About what?"
"About Palms Springs and if you're gonna go or not," Khloe said, dropping her voice to a whisper. "You still haven't got an approval from Kendall because you were talking about the baby you and her are having— don't interrupt me," she said as I opened my mouth to speak.
"We're not saying the baby discussion isn't important," Kim said as we trotted downstairs. "We're saying that you and Kendall have months to discuss about that, right now, we just want you to try and get back with her."
I nodded, mind somewhere else, "So... that's what we're gonna talk about tomorrow?"
Khloe grinned, "Yes."
"Great, I'm gonna go home this exact minute—"
"You're not gonna go give Kendall a goodnight kiss?" Khloe suddenly said, pouting strangely.
I squinted, "What—"
"You're not gonna give her that breakup kiss?"
I frowned, "She hates me—"
"Oh, no breakup sex then," Kim said, turning away in some sort of disappointment.
I let out a scoffing laugh, "OK, what is wrong with you guys?"
Khloe shrugged, "If no breakup sex, just kiss her goodbye."
I turned to her, an oblivious look on my face, "Really? You know what, you guys are total trouble makers— but for the sake of it, I'll do it."
Kim's jaw dropped incredulously, "No way, really?"
I put on a face, "Yeah, why not?"
And with that, I rushed up the stairs, two at a time.
I pushed the door to Kendall's room open and she suddenly whirled around.
She was hot in that bathrobe.
"What're you—" Before she had the time to speak, I hook my hand around the back of her neck and tilted my heard, bringing her in for an unexpected kiss.
Her eyes were wide open as I plunged my tongue inside of her mouth, kissing her passionately.
I pulled away after a second, and she had an odd look on her face, shocked and surprised.
I put on an adorable smile, "I didn't get to say goodbye."
I gave her one last peck and strut out the room, quite confidently.

I hope you liked this one! I thought this book was getting 'less-romantic' by the time, so I decided to add a little more affectionate parts to it.
