Chapter One

I was driving back to my house after the last day of Junior year.

It was now summer time, and although I love school, it gives me more free time to work, and focus on learning all I can about Hope Corp., The Company my parents owned to keep track of all the businesses they owned.

Not only can I work more, but I can spend more time volunteering.

Hope Orphanage was started by my mother a few years back. We hold charity balls and also supply a good amount of money to keep it running. I love it there, seeing a safe environment for children who are less fortunate. H.O has a zero bullying policy, if it’s seen, there are major consequences.

I also volunteer at the local animal shelter. They don’t have much funding, and I don’t need the money so I got together some friends, and there is always one of us there volunteering, and we get to play with the animals, which is amazing.

Lastly, I love volunteering at the hospital. During school, I can only take the 8-midnight shifts on Saturdays, now that it’s summer, I can do it whenever I’m free. Nobody likes working it, and I don’t mind.

I had just walked in the door when I heard, “Arianna baby, come here please.” My mom is the sweetest woman alive.

I walked to my parent’s joint office, “Yeah mom?” I asked her. She looked up and smiled, she and dad were looking over some document.

“Were starting a new project, and we can’t decide on anything. Could you come help us make some decisions?” Nothing new about this, they always ask. They have very different opinions, and I’m usually the tie breaker

I walked behind her desk, and she handed me the document.

“Oh my god,” I screamed and looked at them, they were laughing at me “Are you guys being serious right now, because if you’re messing with me, I quit!”

“It’s all yours baby.” my dad said

It’s about time, ever since freshman year I’ve been trying to get them to donate about $300,000 to build a new library for the school, it’s not a lot to them, they donate money all the time.

I had a talk with them and decided to fund a quarter of the project myself. They’re leaving the charity balls, and funding I need to find for the books, tables, chairs, shelves, etc. to me.

“Oh guys, this means so much to me, you really think I can do this on my own?” I asked

“You won’t be alone. Any time you need help, you can always ask, but all the decisions will be your own.” They really were the best.

“I had an idea for the old library; I was going to turn it into a no talking room pretty much. Have bean bags, and places for people who want to just read or study in complete silence.”

“That sounds actually really nice.” dad agreed.

“Yeah, but mom,” I turned to her, “I was wondering if you would do some paintings for the walls in there for decoration.”

“What kind of paintings?” she asked curiously.

“Abstract, nature, anything school related.”

“I’ll work on them when I have time, but I want a contract saying they won’t be sold without permission.”

“Done” I smiled, I was just a bucket of smiles today!

“I already started the planning and searching for companies and the design,” I stated “It’s going to be two stories, connecting to the school on both. The upper floor is only going to be a half floor, the design allows for it to be easily watched.”

They were listening to me, picturing my vision for this,

“The upper floor will connect to the silent room. There will actually be windows,” I exclaimed “with my plan, there will be room for about 22,000 books. It all depends on how much money I can raise on how many books I can order, but I can always update it during the year.”

“You can order the books from the company for 25% off, and really, we aren’t spending that much, I figure if were giving you $225,000, if you order through us, were going to be getting back nearly $200,000 depending on the books and amount you order.”

I thought about it “Your right, see why didn’t we do this earlier?” I asked “Wait, what made you change your mind?” I asked curiously.

“Well, freshman year, you were passionate about this, but you were too young to follow through on such a big project, and we wanted it to be all you, so your other and I decided then that we would wait till summer before your senior year.”

“Now the school will be mostly empty for the build, and it won’t cause too much problem,” Mom continued “The shelving, book order lists, and decorating will have to be done during school if you can handle it.”

“I can do it, promise. If I need help, I’ll ask!” I shouted afraid they would change their minds “Well I’m off to go plan and hire a contractor and maybe an architect,” I stated happily “Did you create an account for this yet?” I asked.

“Yes, we just added it to the account you already had. Which reminds me, have you had that $75,000 in there since freshman year?” dad raised an eye brow.

“Yes, there’s a bit more than $75,000 now,” I smiled, “Thank you, Thank you. I love you guys so much,” I said as I hugged them to death, “Now I’m off!” I skipped out of the room and into my office, attached to my library.
