Muttering fills the room, silence anywhere but here. I look over to see Ratman glaring at us, a clipboard in his hands, pen stuck behind his ear.

He clears his throat once.

Nobody pays attention.

Twice.

People begin to quiet down, everybody's attention turning to him.

He smiles, a cold, disturbing smile. "Congratulations, on completing the Scorch Trials. I must apologise, for keeping you apart for so long. 26 days to be exact, and now you're finally out. You all must be aware, obviously, that there is a disease eating the minds of humans. You may think that we are cruel, but everything that we have done, every thing that has happened to you, we have used and analyzed to create a blueprint, which will be used to create a cure for the Flare."

Nobody speaks, and the only sound is the shifting of feet, and occasional cough. I can feel (T/M/N/G)'s calloused hand slip into mine, his fingers interlocking with my own. I smile to know he's here with me, and I'm not alone.

"The Flare lives in every part of your bodies," continues Ratman. "Though, somehow it has no effect on any of you, nor will it ever. You all, well, most of you, belong to an extremely rare group of people." He pauses for effect.

"Many of you, appear to be... Immune to the Flare. Outside of this place, people hate people such as yourselves. They call you Munies."

I feel my breath caught in my throat, and glance over at (T/M/N/G) to find his Adams apple bobbing up and down furiously.

Ratman nods to a person standing behind us, who opens a door, and several other people begin herding us out.

"You will have 30 minutes to freshen up, as I trust you must want to." Calls Ratman, not moving from his original position.

I turn away from him, slipping my hand out of (T/M/N/G)'s hand, and head for the separate showers, along with the girls from Group B.

It feels good to be clean again, to get all of the grime and dirt off of my skin. My cuts and bruises looked pretty bad before I took a shower, though now they seemed okay, just small scars.

I could tell the other Gladers felt the same, and everyone walked out with small smiles, relaxed for the first time in 2 weeks. We even got a fresh change of clothes.

We return back to the exact room where Ratman had spoken to us just a half hour before.

"I assume you all feel.. Somewhat better." Smiles Ratman, revealing crooked teeth. "Now I've got a few things to cover before we remove the Swipe."

Everybody breaks into arguments, each argument completely different, though for the same reason.

"Settle down, please." Says Ratman, not raising his voice, and for some reason, everyone obeys. "Now I assume you know what the Swipe is." He smiles once more, causing me to cringe.

"You'll be getting your memories back. Exciting enough?" He pauses to take in our reactions, raising his eyebrows at a few of them, mine in particular. (T/M/N/G)'s fingers lace with mine once more, and I feel as if a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.

"The Trials, as you know, are finally over." A few whoops and hollers erupt from us, but soon die down. "Should you try and harm me, you have all been warned of the consequences, so do not try any bold moves. I apologise as well, dearly, for the ones you've lost along the way.."
