59. Thirsty?

What an obsession our culture has with water! I can remember back to a time when there was no such thing as bottled water.  We only drank water from the tap and we were grateful that it had rained enough to fill the dam. Mum packed a small drink bottle in my school case and if I needed anything else, I would have a drink from the bubbler.  Adults didn't buy and carry spring water around in disposable plastic bottles or expect that they would have chilled, filtered water provided in their workplace!

It's ironic that in our obsessive quest for quenching our thirst in the best way possible, it seems that many are missing out on the most wonderful water of all! Imagine drinking the purest water ever and knowing that you will never thirst again! Where do you get it? It's available freely for all who come to Jesus!

"Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans. )

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?"

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.""
‭‭John‬ ‭4:4-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Continue to fill me with Your Spirit and use me today Lord, so that others will see that I am completely satisfied in You. Speak through me as I share the wonderful news, that You sent Your Son so that everyone would know how much You love us.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
