1. One Thing

In the busyness of our day to day lives, it can be easy to lose sight of the main goal. There are so many things that distract us! Sometimes we get caught up looking back at either past successes or past failures but while we can learn from these, we really need to let go of them and keep moving forward. Paul tells us that there is one thing he does:

"But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:7-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Prayer:

Lord I determine to leave the past in the past! I will 'fasten my heart to the future instead' (TPT). I rely on Your strength, Your righteousness, Your power! I want to know You better and run this race with passion! All of my past accomplishments are nothing compared to the delight of just knowing You better.

Help me today to keep my eyes on You, to put aside unhelpful thoughts and replace them with the truth so I can press on toward the goal!

I thank You that because of Jesus:
I am a child of God. (Galatians 3:26)
I am chosen. (Ephesians 1:4)
I am alive. (Romans 6:11)
I am a masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)
I am loved. (John 3:16)
I am free. (John 8:32)
I am healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
I am strong. (1 John 2:14)
I am fearless. (Isaiah 43:5)
I am secure. (John 10:28-29)
I am a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

"I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back."
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

In Jesus' Name I'm off and running,
I'm not turning back,
Amen!
