We had no scent of Barrow, and school had ended, so there wasn't really anything we could do until he was spotted by someone else. It was a little unnerving, but we didn't know what else to do.

I went straight home, and spent the majority of the evening thinking about Scott. We discussed talking later today, but I didn't know if he was busy now. I pushed back in my chair, swiveling myself to peer out my window. Maybe he forgot.

Scott's lights were on, but I couldn't see him. I remembered what Evan said to me this morning. He seemed really insistent on telling me something.

I got up and peered into his room, which was empty. Where was he? It was already dark out. I shuffled down the stairs, finding my mom in the kitchen fixing up something on the stove.

"Mom, where's Evan?" I asked, walking around the counter top.

"Oh, he went to a friends for dinner, and your Father had to work late. I'm making potato soup if you're hungry."

"What friend's house?" I asked curiously.

"He mentioned a new student to the school, Kira... Yukimora, I think." She answered.

He went to Kira's house? For dinner? Why is he hanging around her, she's gonna start asking questions, ones we can't really answer. It was too dangerous for humans to know about these things. She's going to be at risk if she figures out what's going on.

"No, I'm not hungry, thanks." I shrugged. I pulled out my phone, sending him a quick text.

Text me asap, we need to talk.

As soon as I pressed send, I heard a few knocks on the door.

"Would you mind, dear?" Mom asked, while stirring the steaming pot.

"Yeah." I smiled, tucking away my phone.

I pulled my sleeves down, fully covering my arms, as I walked to the front door. I could already sense who it was, making my heartbeat increase.

"Hi." Scott grinned when I opened the door.

"Hi." I smiled back awkwardly. "This is probably the worst excuse, but we should postpone that talk."

"Yeah? What's wrong?" Scott asked.

"Evan. He went to Kira's house, I don't know- he should've been home by now, and with what happened in the locker rooms-"

"Hey," Scott reached out, touching my arm. "It's okay, let's go. This can wait."

"You're coming?" I asked surprised.

"Sure, plus there's like, still a serial killer out there." Scott reminded me.

"I think I could handle him." I smirked, grabbing my car keys from the wall and walking past him.

"Of course, yea- I just would feel better knowing you got there and back safely." Scott stuttered.

"Okay." I laughed, unlocking my car. "Get in then, McCall."

It was a relatively quiet drive. Kira's house wasn't far, but the awkward silence between us made the drive feel infinite. If felt like forever before Scott finally spoke first.

"This doesn't have anything to do with me, right?" Scott asked hesitantly.

"What- no, no of course not." I stuttered. "Honestly."

"Oh, good. I just, communication between us has been, sort of-"

"Non existent?" I asked.

"Yeah." Scott laughed.
