You finally got home after working 3 hours late. You wanted to be home early so you could watch the game between Colorado and Montréal.

You dropped everything at the front door and ran to the TV to turn on the game. It was almost midway through the second period tied at 1, Avalanche had the powerplay.

"Come on Duchene..."  You whispered at the television as you sat down on the couch. The Avs went to create one last rush at the end of the powerplay; just as they passed the puck up the ice Galchenyuk stepped out of the box and took the puck skating around Tyson and scoring.

You shouted and swore walking into the kitchen to get something to eat. You hadn't eaten all day, to worried about the game. You knew how the Avalanche needed to win this game. Matt called you before the game. They needed to win, and wanted to win for Patrick. He hadn't gotten a win in Montreal as a coach and they wanted to win for him, as well as themselves, but mostly for Patrick.

While you were in the kitchen making a sandwich while still listening to the annoucers, then the goal horn went off. 3-1 Montreal.

"Don't give up Avs!" You shouted walking back to the living room. You texted Matt, telling him to keep pushing hard because there was lots of hockey left. You knew there was a chance he would read his texts between intermissions.

Finally, after lots of "yelling" at the refs, it was nearing the end of the third period. Still 3-1 Habs, you were on the edge of your seat. Matt had a great game so far, he was totally due for a goal soon.

Then it happened finally! Matt scored making it 3-2 with over 2 minutes left! You cheered so loud you were positive neighbours could hear you but you really couldn't care. Matt brought the team within a goal and plenty of time to score!

Matt had a huge smile on his face sitting on the bench, he had not been anywhere near that happy since the win in Boston when Danny scored the game winner. The only win on the road trip so far.

With the goalie pulled and 10 seconds left the Habs blocked 2 shots and ended up winning. You looked down at the floor, Matt would probably be in a bad mood. His goal brought them closer to a win, but as a team they still couldn't get that win.

You couldn't call that a successful road trip. 3 out of 8 possible points, lost both your starter and back up goalies, their record was 1-5. Not only a bad road trip, but a horrible start to the season, which meant an upset Matt.

You knew they were flying back tonight, so you would probably stay awake until Matt came home. You worked at a publishing company, and you were in charge of reading potential books and deciding if they were worth giving to your boss to read or not.

You curled up under a blanket and began to read this romance novel, it sounded quite cheesy when you read the description but you were always a sucker for those kinds of love stories. It appeared to be a classic 'Boy meets girl. Falls in love with girl. She doesn't realize she loves him until after she stops chasing another guy'  type of book.

In fact you got about half way through it when Matt walk in. You didn't even notice he had come home, d espite the fact he dropped his bag and practically stomped by you into the kitchen.

He grabbed a beer from the fridge and sadly sighed in the kitchen closing the fridge. You were so quiet he didn't even notice you were still awake at 2:30 am. It wasn't unitl he walked out of the kitchen that he noticed you, curled up under a blanket reading.
