There was a girl. She stood outside, in front of the American Airlines Center in Texas.

I can't believe I actually have a ticket for this game!" She whispered to herself overly excited.

See, she had met a man named Jamie Benn not too long ago, about 6 months before when he had a girlfriend. He was the nicest guy she had talked to in a long time. Over time she became his friend and that caused his girlfriend to freak out. She felt she was only using him for the money, and wasn't the only one who felt that way. A few teammates also agreed, though no one wanted to say something to Jamie and have him get upset. Anyways, his girlfriend freaked out and said that he could have her or the girl who's name was Y/N.

When Y/N told Jamie about her beliefs that the girl was just using him for money, he didn't agree with it.

Much to Y/N surprise though, he chose her in the end. The girlfriend left him and Y/N stayed by Jamie's side to help him through the break up. Jamie would say how much he liked that girl, even cried a little. He never realized that it was when Y/N comforted him, he started to fall in love with her. Having her was better than his now ex girlfriend.

He also had been developing a crush on Y/N, without knowing it. All the time they spent together. The trips to the movies, the video games, keeping him in shape during the off season, everything the two frienda had done together caused the tiniest doubt in his feeling for his girlfriend before they broke up.

Jamie knows now that he was desprate enough for the friendship between you an him over the girlfriend because he was able to stay close to you. That's where his heart lead him.

Thats why when he found out Y/N had never been to a live hockey game, he freaked. He immediately got a ticket, right behind the Stars bench during a game against Anaheim.

She was the biggest Ducks fan and loved to tell Jamie all about how the Ducks were the superior team. It was playful teasing, maybe even flirting on her part.

The girl wasn't sure exactly how she felt about Jamie. She liked him as a friend and didn't want to risk the friendship by jumping into a relationship with him, but Y/N loved every second she spent with Jamie.

That's why she bought a Benn jersey without telling him. She aimed to surprise him, make him smile. She wanted to try and hint at the fact she like him, as more than a friend. Wanted him to know that the teasing was flirting. That the time they spent together was time well spent. She want him to know that she fell for him. That she for him, fast and hard.

The girl smiled with excitement and ran into the arena. She showed up fairly early but knew to avoid Jamie. Y/N even planned to have his teammate Tyler Seguin keep him busy for the time leading up to the anthem. Which she planned to wear her Benn jersey proud for him to see.

While the girl wandered the arena, Jamie was talking to Tyler.

"I just need to see her before the game!" Jamie said as he tried to get by Tyler.

"Why? I doubt she's even here yet!" Tyler laughed, "Just wait until after! Or text her!"

Jamie stopped suddenly, "You're up to something!" he exclaimed.

"What?" Tyler stopped stunned, "Why would I do that?"

Jamie took a seat in the dressing room, "Why wouldn't you be up to something!"

"Just tell me why you want to see Y/N!" Tyler laughed.

Jamie sighed, "Well I want to make a playful bet. See her favourite player on Anaheim is Perry... I want to tell her that when I score before him, if he manages to score against us, that she has to come on a date with me!" Jamie concluded.
