You flashed a smile to your boyfriend Sidney as he rested his hand on your knee during the dinner. It was a team charity dinner to help raise awareness for the Cancer Society. Since October, the team and their families have been apart of many of these when it really hit home that Maatta had that tumor removed. Even though he's returned and hasn't had any lingering effects, the team still wanted to raise money for those who aren't as lucky as Olli was.

Sidney smiled back, and you just let his hand rest comfortably there. It was a nice dinner as always. Only you were a little sad this time around.

It just so happened that the team booked one of these on your's and Sidney's fourth anniversary. Four whole year you two had managed to put up with one another, and you couldn't even have a night for just the two of you.

Sidney wasn't too happy having to cancel the reservations at the restaurant you two had your first date at. You both were looking forward to having the night to yourselves, and here you were sitting with over 300 people in a room.

Don't get me wrong, it is for a great cause, it's just that you thought it would be a special night for you and Sidney. Special enough you thought he might've "popped the question". Sidney definitely wouldn't do that now though, he would think of it as taking attention away from the cause.

Waiters came around, cleaning up the plates from the dinner. It would be around 10 minutes before waiters brought dessert around, hence the idle chit chat among everyone. It was around five minutes before Sid would have to give a small speech.

"Hey, I'm sorry we couldn't have this night for just us two," Sidney apologized for the millionth time.

You smiled, "Sid, I understand. You had no choice in planning the event, and you definitely couldn't miss this - being the captain and all."

He nodded his head once, "I just wish, I mean I had such a nice date planned out... It was going to be a great anniversary."

"You're here with me, and that's what makes it great. I don't need a fancy restaurant or huge night planned out. Spending it with you makes it great."

Sidney smiled and leaned in kissing you. The kiss definitely lasted long enough because eventually you heard, "Get a room!" from Malkin across the table, causing Sidney to laugh and you to blush madly.

There was the tapping of a fork on a glass that got everyone's attention, it came from the table coach Johnsten was at.

"I'd like to thank everyone who arrived tonight. It's amazing that this many people were able to come to support this cause. I'm happy to say that over 250 non-team related people are here tonight, along with the teams players and some of their family! I'm hoping everyone has been having a great night, and wish for you all to get home safely after dessert!" Johnsten got a small round of applause before looking over too the players and adding, "Don't drink too much wine boys, 9am practice!" Mike chuckled, getting everyone in the room to softly laugh.

Johnsten gave a discreet nod to Sid who stood up, tapping his glass to get the room silent again.

"I'm also extremely happy with the turnout tonight. This is such a great cause and raising money for cancer research is a great thing." He stopped thinking, "Tonight is a little more special for me though. It's actually my 4 year anniversary with the lovely girl sitting next to me-"

Sid stopped motioning towards you, getting some "awe's" and "how cute" from the fans.

"I actually had a wonderful night planned out for the two of us. Last year I was in a plane flying from Edmonton to Vancouver for our anniversary. So this year I had planned to go to the restaurant we had gone for our first anniversary, then I was going to take her to Schenley Park... It's where we first met actually." Sidney continued, to explain leaving you confused.

"Sid, what are you-" He grabbed your one hand and lifted it up, hinting at you to stand. Really, you didn't want to be the center of attention at all, but you had no choice because Sidney had made you it already.

Putting on your best smile you stood up fixing your dress as you did so, "What is this about Sidney?"

A reassuring smile was flashed your way, but he simply kept talking, "This is Y/N. She's the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. She puts up with me not always being around, she puts up with me when I stress out, she keeps me sane. I don't know what my mental state would be without her." He turned to you, slightly moving his chair away from the table with his foot.

"I love you so much Y/N. I truly don't know what I'd be doing without you-"

"Uh, you'd be playing hockey you dork... Maybe not for the Pens though, there's only so much of your crap people can put up with," you interrupted him and teased sarcastically, adding a wink for effect. The room erupted in laughter from fans and management alike.

"She's not wrong man!" One of his teammates yelled, hard to tell who though because of how loud the room was. It almost sounded like Perron.

He smiled chuckling and waited for the room to quiet down, "That's exactly my point. You put up with the stress and hockey that I bring home with me. I never understand why you do. I mean you could date someone who truly deserves you, someone who will be home every night, someone who won't bring their work home with them..." He paused thinking of words. "You know, I had a script written out for this... But I haven't said a word of it, because it wasn't good enough. It wasn't all from the heart, hell I had Gino help me write it!"

You smiled, biting your lip to hold back a giggle. It felt like forever, waiting for him to finish, and being completely oblivious to it all, "But I- I suppose that.... being here for 4 years... putting up with everything. All our ups and downs we had... I guess what I want to ask is..."

Sid slowly got down on one knee. It felt like time was stopping, that you might live in this moment. It was like everyone else in the room was gone. Everyone was silent, fans and teammates, that you would have heard a pin drop. Tears of joy began forming in your eyes, your hands flew to your mouth. Suddenly it was only you two in the room. He fiddled with getting the box out of his pocket

"Will you, Y/N Y/L/N, do me the honor of marrying me; to forever put up with my crap forever?" Sidney smiled up at you, the box opened to reveal a diamond ring. Exactly like one you saw in a catalog and mentioned to Sid about 3 years back. It wasn't a huge diamond. You didn't want anything extremely noticeable.

The crowd was silent. Waiting for your reaction. There was no way you could say no, the fans would probably murder you. It's not like you even contemplated saying no.

You eagerly nodded your head, a smile stitched onto your face and a couple of tears falling, "Of course I will. But I don't know if I could put up with your crap forever. That's a long time to handle someone's bullshit." You laughed smiling as Sidney engulfed you in a hug, spinning you two in a small circle a few times.

The crowd of people cheered and whistled, a few people even yelling different things. Some yelled "Congrats!" While others yelled, "Someone's getting laid tonight!" Actually, I believe it was Malkin who yelled that last one.

Sidney smashed his lips to yours, and it made everything feel as if you were the only two people in the world. This kiss seemed to feel different, almost as if you hadn't kissed him before, like it was the first time, but you already knew each others lips so well. You could sense the emotions you both had, they ranged from happiness, to relief, to excitement and gratefulness.

Finally you two broke the heated kiss, remembering there was others in the room. Over 300 other people to be exact.

Sidney smiled as he slid the ring on your finger, "I love you to the moon and back."

You smiled and pecked his lips a couple times, "I love you to beyond the moon and back."

"Enough with the mushy stuff! Where's dessert at? These two are being too lovey dovey!" Letang slightly yelled, he got laughs from those who heard him as Sidney and you took your seats again.
