"Lemonade?"

"I'm sorry what." Jimin's newly declared friend Jeon Jungkook replied.

"Lemonade." Jimin restated. He wasn't usually so bad at this, the whole talking thing, but something about the way the sun set behind the brunette boy or the emptiness of the city street made his words catch in his throat.

It'd been a long day, Jimin having dropped an entire batch of cotten candy cupcakes on the floor at his bakery after having worked on them for hours. His ears still heated just thinking of the incident. Namjoon, Seokjin's boyfriend, had made the trip as he always did just to pick the batch up. Jimin didn't know the older boy all that well, but he felt an urge to run after the way he had starred at the cupcakes on the floor.

After his shift ended, Jimin had meant to avoid the back street coming home, getting off of the subway and meaning to leave through a second exit that lead to God knows where. But it was like Jungkook had tied an invisble thread around Jimin's finger - tugging at it with an almost gental pull. He couldn't get him out of his head, even after trying relentlessly all day. It was always just little thoughts, like flashes of his grin or wondering if his cut was healing up okay.

It was annoying.

Maybe he was finally losing his mind, because he ended up purposely searching the street out after he got out of the train station. He told himself it didn't mean anything, that he was just checking in on a friend, that Jungkook might not even be working that day at all, but a tiny voice inside his head knew better.

Surprisingly, the inner conflict raging out in his head was met with the audible one of Jungkook and his pale co-worker as he turned the corner towards the construction sight. He'd felt bad enough seeing the way Jungkook's shoulders dropped after his co-worker left to get back to work, a scowl on his face, that Jimin decided then and there that he wanted to find a way to cheer Jungkook up. Which might be crazy, or stupid, or dangerous, but somehow Jimin was only listening to the voice at the very back of his head that told him to ignore all of that.

"Do you want some?" Jimin continued, rubbing the back of his neck as he glanced back at Jungkook's pale co worker who was putting away his things into a grey backpack with a bit more force than necessary. The silver haired boy made no move to look their way, finishing lifting up a beam along with another worker before clapping him on the back for his hard work. "I have some my roommate and I bought a while back that neither of us has touched."

"Do I want any of your discarded lemonade?" Jungkook teased, looking up at Jimin finally.

"It's Minute Made." Jimin added as if the brand would make a world of difference.

Jungkook scraped his brow with his thumb flashing a sweet, almost country boy, smile. "Well now how could I even say no to Minute Made?" He replied, shaking his head with a certain gleam to his stare. It resembled the way a kid might look at a new puppy - as if it was the most adorable, amusing, perplexing creature yet encountered.

"My shift is just about over, give me a minute." Jimin nodded and Jungkook wiped some black slick looking oil from his hands on a towel before turning to let his boss know that he was heading off. Jimin watched, standing awkwardly as he playing around with his thumb in his palm, contemplating wether or not inviting a stranger over to his apartment was a good idea. Then, he wondered just how he'd come across and his cheeks burned. He was only a couple words away from becoming what Karen's warned their kids: when a stranger asks you if you want candy, but you have to come with them, what do you say?

"Lead the way," Jungkook answered, apparently Jimin had muttered that last bit out loud. The color drained from Jimin's face and Jungkook chuckled, grinning like an idiot.

"Okay," Jimin answered, refusing to let Jungkook see him blush as he started walking. Then stopped to look over his shoulder - Jungkook waved his fingers in reply. The blond blushed again, rolling his eyes as he contied to walk once more. The metal beams were left behind them as the block stretched forward, Jungkook walking a couple steps behind Jimin as if he was worried that were he to walk too close it'd scare Jimin away. He had his thumbs in the front pockets of his jeans, a dark colored teeshirt gribbing his chest. Jungkook was smiling to himself, the only sound between the boys was the comfortable rhythm of their steps.

"Promise you won't murder me." Jimin suddenly threw back, the voice in the back of his head - which sounded uncannily alike to Seokjin's - kept warning him just how bad of an idea pitying a stupid brunette hot boy was just because he looked equally as sad and tired as he did stupid.

"I'm doing this because I'm nice." Jimin added, thinking back on the argument he'd witneeses between Jungkook and his co worker.

"Ah so you pity me." Jungkook said, raising his brows, the gold flakes of his eyes danced against the last bit of sun hiding against the bleeding sky of red and orange.

"Yes. Very much." Jimin said matter of factly, adding a little nod for emphasis. He desperately tried not to let the smell of sweat and forest and citrus cause his head to spin. When they turned the corner, Jimin pointed out the yellow brick of his apartment complex, taking a step away from Jungkook so that he could get a breathe of fresh air - fresh air that smelled like sewer and city and coffee. A familiar scent that didn't cause his heart to race.

"Well beautiful, I don't mind being pitied if it's you that's doing the pity-ing." Jungkook said with a smile, elbowing Jimin in the side with a new sort of excited energy to him. He winked, his brown eyes dazzling in the now fading sun, and Jimin couldn't help but think that they sort of looked like chocolate. I must be hungry.

"Mhm." Jimin replied as he turned away from Jungkook, walking a little faster. They made their way to the tall apartment complex where Jimin and his roommate, Kim Taehyung, lived.

"Mhmm." Jungkook mimicked with a chuckle as the two boys climbed the steps up Jimin's apartment. When they finally reached his blue painted front door, Jimin fumbled around in the pockets of his jeans for a small silver key, the metal about the size of Jungkook's pinky. The blond haired boy sighed, a small look of uncertainty flashed across his face, but he bit his lip to try and mask it. Stupid key that never works on the stupid door.

"Do you need some help?" Jungkook asked, watching Jimin struggle with turning the key the right way. The lock seemed a bit rusted on the edges, and while Jungkook could understand how someone might have a hard time opening it if it was their first time attempting to do so, the fact that Jimin lived here and wasn't able to - it was kind of adorable, really.

A/N:
Does anyone remember that video of Jungkook demonstrating the English sayings he learned and after he said "easy peasy lemon squeezy" he beamed all proud of himself. I almost cried watching that it was so cute.

Also, do you ever get caught in an endless
fan art hole and it's like everything
is cute so you save all of it but then
it's three hours later and your
phone looks psychotic
