Chapter 28

"Ugh, I’m glad they went,” I said as they voted the next person off X factor.

“You’d be happy to see any of them leave,” Aaron joked, playfully jabbing my leg.

I pouted and Aaron looked at me before huffing and looking away.

“What?” I asked.

“When you do that… I just want to kiss you like before.”

“Do it then.” I said softly.

He slowly moved closer and pressed his lips to mine, testing the water. I moved closer to him, inviting him in.

We stayed up all that night in his living room talking. Only about superficial things. Films and TV shows we’d watched. We shared stories which we had probably told each other before but it didn’t matter. I was just getting used to being in his presence again.

I was spinning round on my office chair bored when I got a text from Aaron.

GUYS COMING ROUND ON THURSDAY. WANT TO COME TOO?

I smiled, SURE

COOL. ABOUT 7? OR WHENEVER YOU GET OFF WORK…. JACK WANTS TO TALK ABOUT GOSSIP GIRL WITH YOU.

SOUNDS GREAT, AZ

I went to lunch with Beth and Roxy. I hadn’t told them I went to Aaron’s twice at the weekend. I wasn’t going to either. They had been slightly suspicious when I arrived at work on Monday with bags under my eyes having been talking to Aaron until 3 am that morning.

“Do you want to go and see Footloose?” Beth asked over our coffees.

“The dancing one? Okay then…” I said even though I wasn’t really interested.

“We could go on Thursday!” Roxy suggested and I started nodding until I realised that Aaron had just messaged me.

“Wait no! I can’t do Thursday.”

They both raised an eyebrow at me. “Why?”

“Erm… I’m going out… with my friend… Kevin.”

“Oh. Okay.” They both looked like they believed me. Phew.

On the way to Aaron’s I was pretty excited to see the guys again even though I kind of hoped Kieran wouldn’t be there after the incident at the bar. That was still a bit embarrassing.

“Hey you,” I said as he opened the door.

“Hey yourself”

I smiled.

“Er how are you?”

He was being awkward which was cute so I leant up and kissed him before walking into his house. I said hi to Jack and Theo who were already there.

“Nice to see you again,”

I smiled, “If I remember rightly we need to have a rematch on FIFA”

I won the first match, stunning Jack and Theo. In summer Aaron had bought me a Playstation so he could play when he stayed round. I had started practising my FIFA skills since then but had no one to show how good I had gotten.

“She’s better than you, Aaron!”

During the second match the door went again and Gibbo arrived with someone who I had never met before but knew from watching matches.

Kieran went through to the kitchen and I passed the controller to Aaron, “Finish it for me.”

I followed him into the kitchen as he was pouring some juice.
