This Love

Chapter 56

"Go back," Said Kaiden to Carter who had stepped forward, panic evident on his face. He watches as Kaiden pressed the gun harder on my forehead and stepped back.

"I thought I told you not to do anything smart Eva," Said Kaiden in my ear. 

Before I could reply, I see a pair of black boots step in.  Abel walked towards Carter's gun and grabbed it. He was wearing a black leather jacket that I've seen Kaiden wear so many times. His condition looked better than before, his bruises filling up. 

"I don't want to waste more time" Said Kaiden, "Give me the drugs and we'll be gone like we never came" 

"I told you I don't have them, let her go" Replied Carter. 

Kaiden's hand tightened around my neck, I gasped finding it hard to breathe. 

"Let me rephrase it for you, Carter William. I give you five seconds to give me the drugs, else, you are going to find your beautiful girlfriend dead" 

"Five" 

I struggle against Kaiden, trying desperately to get out of his grip.

"Four" 

"I swear I don't have them with me, the drugs aren't here"

"Three" 

A loud thunder booms the whole house, raining attacking the windows loudly.

"Two" 

"STOP! ALLY HAS THEM. THE DRUGS ARE WITH ALLY, LET EVA GO NOW" 

I look up at  Carter, not believing my ears. Drugs are with Ally? My best friend Ally? Why were the drugs with her?

"Let her go, please" Said Carter desperately.

"Call her and tell her to bring them here now" Said Kaiden.

"I beg you, please let Eva go" Tried Carter again as I felt my first tear drop.

"Don't waste my time Carter, I'm getting really angry right now"

Abel stepped towards Carter and gave him his phone. Carter dailed a number and lifted his hand to his ear. Ally picked up at after ten seconds, my brain counting them with the rhythm of my unsteady heartbeat. 

"Hey I need the drugs," Said Carter.

"Yes right now...I know its raining Ally but its urgent.....FOR GOD'S SAKE JUST BRING ME THE DRUGS RIGHT NOW I DON'T CARE HOW BAD THE WEATHER IS" Shouted Carter, irritation visible on his face. 

I knew why Carter was frustrated. It was me. I was holding him back, making him helpless. If I wasn't here Carter would have taken over Kaiden already. I felt guilt boil inside me as more tears fell down.

"Thank you," Said Carter finally and ended the call. 

"She's bringing them," Said Carter looking Kaiden in the eye. "Now let Eva go"

Abel grabbed the phone back from Carter and collapsed on the couch nearby.

It took Ally more than thirty minutes to reach Carter's house. I just hoped she would sense that something was up. Carter and Kaiden constantly stared at each other, watching every single move. Abel would sometimes get up and pace the room other times sit on the couch, constantly fidgety.

"Why are you doing this?" I said my mind still not able to process this Kaiden.

"I have my reasons" Replied Kaiden. 

I still couldn't believe this was happening. It felt like a bad dream that I was going to wake up from, but I wasn't waking up. I watched Carter, our eyes locking so many times. His eyes assured me that everything was going to be okay, that he was going to get us out of here. While my eyes told him that I was fine and we will get out of here. 

And that I loved him. 

The rain outside had slowed down a little when we heard a car pull over.  Kaiden nodded at Abel as the bell rang. I watched as Abel grabbed Carter's arm but was pushed back by Carter.

"Don't touch me. I know how to do this" Snapped Carter walking towards the door. 

Abel followed behind him as Kaiden held me tight in his hold. I tried to step back, hoping to catch a glimpse of the door, hoping Ally could see me but Kaiden was smart. He placed his hand over my mouth, pressing tightly so I couldn't scream. He moved us deeper into the living room. 

"I thought of you as my family" I mumbled against his hand.

Before he could reply though Carter and Abel returned. Carter holding a red package in his hand.

"Let her go" Said Carter. 

"Give Abel the drugs," Said Kaiden.

"I will kill you I swear, let her go NOW" 

Kaiden waited for a few seconds then loosened his hold on me. The gun going down and pointing towards Carter while his other hand went down by his side. I ran towards Carter hugging him tightly as he wrapped his arms around me. 

"It's okay, it's okay" whispered Carter in my ear. Hugging me so hard I couldn't breath.

Suddenly the world felt like a safer place. 

"Hand over the drugs Carter" Said Kaiden.

"I will kill you, I promise. Both of you" Said Carter sternly. 

I stepped a little back as I watched Carter extend the drugs in the red packaging towards Abel. But before he could hand them over there was a click and me being pushed away with force by Carter. I fell to the ground as two shots fired. Loud and haunting. I looked up to see Carter collapse on the floor, blood pouring out from his shoulder. A dark red spot painting his shirt. 

My breath hitched up and anger took over. I turned behind me, ready to pounce on Kaiden but Kaiden wasn't looking at Carter or me, neither was his gun pointing at Carter. It was pointing at something on my left. His eyes fixed at something there. I swiped my eyes back to Carter and saw Abel next to him on the ground. His arm red with blood as he grasped the drug.

"How about you all hand over the drugs to me" Came a voice I knew too well.

My eyes moved to where Kaiden's gun was pointing and saw Nina standing there. A gun in her hand.

It's been long, hasn't it? How are you all doing? I hope you like this chapter. I had planned this chapter for a long time now and was so scared for writing it down.
