~Melody's POV~
I didn't know where else to go when I left that place that would've been my permanent home. There wasn't any other person I could think of going to without having to face another human.
My only safe space I have left is my beloved cave. It's the only place I feel safe with myself. Granted, it's already been touched by other humans and everything that was mine is now gone. It's still the only thing I can call my own when I have nothing else.
From everything that's happen, this is the first place I thought of going.
It's my home, and it'll always be.
I'll be safe. No one can ever hurt me if I'm alone. No one can ever stab me in the back if I don't keep them close.
Looking up and down at the entrance which is big enough for only one person to squeeze through, everything looks exactly the same. I know caves don't come and go as they please-the Earth doesn't work that way-but from what my memory serves, I can point out all the intricate patterns that form the cave entrance and all the plants that surround the area in a one mile radius.
Then without so much as a second thought, I march right into the entrance. Because of my small figure there wasn't any trouble of me squeezing through. As I walk through the corridor, my hands glide along the walls to feel the rough layers. It's completely dark inside. The light can only go so far when the entrance is the only way it can come in. There used to be candles hanging along the textured walls that I'd light along the way, but like everything else I own, it's not here anymore. I'm a victim to the darkness that belongs inside the cave.
Unfortunately, my senses weren't what they used to be. I stumble on my own foot and nearly hit the ground. I curse to myself as soon as I grab the wall for stability. As embarrassing as it sounds, especially to my pride, I've already forgotten about my way of living. I've lived in these woods for god knows how many years, and it only takes a few months for me to completely disregard my survival skills.
It's sad.
Really-I've grown up learning these skills to prove that I can take care of myself. I had to show everyone in the Forbidden Jungle that even as a human I can walk these Earths just like them. But all it takes is Humans to make me forgot the person I used to be.
They really are the worst creatures out there.
Who would've known that it'd take me all these years to figure that out?
