~Melody's POV~

After leaning against the wall for over a few minutes, my feet began to grow numb due to being in the same position for too long, so I kick myself from the wall and decide to use up my time by circling around Henry. At least this way, I wouldn't get bored by doing nothing but standing around.

Henry didn't seem to mind though. He was taking his time by scanning the street.

I was doing the same. Henry and I were merely on the streets, loitering alongside a store I've never been in before (must've opened up while I was living away). Across the road and a few buildings to the left, I could spot Granny's diner. It wasn't lunch hour anymore so there weren't any people having their meals in the front, but that didn't mean that there weren't still people cruising through main street.

I spot stranger after stranger, even a few familiar faces, but in our little group, Henry and I were the only ones together. I have no idea where the adults were hiding.

Even if our family was nowhere in my sights, I am definitely sure that they're keeping a close eye on us. They just wanted to make sure that Sabor and Clayton wouldn't find them. They were the attack while Henry and I were the decoy.

"Tell me again why the younger ones in the group always have to be the bait?" Henry asks. His eyes follow me as I walk in front of him.

I sigh, putting my hands in my jean pockets. As I make another round around my brother, I reply with, "Because Sabor is attracted to younger prey."

His face scrunches up, looking like he just smelled a foul odor. "That sounds a little wrong."

"Try not to think about it too much. It's worse to imagine yourself as her next meal."

"Oh, now I'm imagining it... It's a bloody mess."

I roll my eyes. "Just be glad that you've never had to see a mutilated carcass in your entire life."

"Oh my god, Melody. What was your childhood like?"

"I barely had one," I admit. "I was too busy trying to prove myself to my troop that I barely had anytime to be a kid."

"When this is all over, I'm making a list of things to do to make up for your lost childhood."

I smile. Then, I look around the street again. I thought that my keen eyesight would help me in spotting either Emma or David, but no such luck even with my prior knowledge that they're around. It's a good thing too. If I can't find them, then I'm sure that Sabor won't either.

"Now, you tell me again why this was Emma's extravagant plan? She's only using us to bring in Sabor while the "adults" trap her and Clayton with whatever... trap they have. It's disappointing I'll say."

"At least it's something," Henry claims.

"Please... I expected Emma to do better like she usually does."
