~Henry's POV~

I can't remember when exactly I went to sleep, so how am I suppose to know the second I woke up? All I do know is my soul almost escaping my body when a pair of hands shake me from my sleep. Had I not realized that my hands were fighting off a potential attacker, I would've thought of it as a semi-realistic dream.

"Henry! Ow-Henry!" my mom (Regina) calls out to me.

My eyes snap open. The shaking doesn't stop. I'm getting dizzy. With that, I turn my head, following from the hands that grip my body all the way to the shoulders of whom they belong to.

My mom's wide eyes take up her entire face. Her hair is wilder than a baby gorilla.

"Mom?" I mumble.

She finally stops shaking me.

As soon as her arms back away, cold air blows past my arms. One side of my body feels colder than the other. I'm not surrounded by the women I know. Despite the darkness, my eyes move to every angle of the room. My hand feeling the empty side of the bed. The side is cold from abandonment.

Before her name reaches my tongue, Mom beats me to the first word. "Henry," she tries to lure me back to her.

"Where is she?" I ask. She can't stop me from searching for someone that is clearly not here.

"That's why I'm here." Mom starts to uncover the sheets from me. "We have to go get her."

"Get her?" I shake the sleep from my head, my eyes, and my body. "What do you mean 'get her'? Where's Melody?" Again, I glance to the side for her presence, though I'm met with nothing but the rest of the bedroom.

"I don't know. Now get up!" Mom pulls me by my arms.

I obey her command. I basically lunge from the bed with her help.

"We'll find her, Henry" Mom says behind me as I round the bed. Although dark, I narrowly dodge hitting a bedpost with my toes. But before I run past the open doorway, my mom's sudden hush stops me. A tick in her voice tells me that she wants to talk; however, her quick reflex tells me she plans to keep her mouth shut. Nevertheless, I still hear the moan. I spin around, seemingly blocking Mom in the room before she can leave.

She steps behind me. She won't put up a fight, knowing that she's shown me her weakest card.

"What is it?" I grip my fingers on the doorway, planting me in place. "What aren't you telling me?"

"Henry, go get changed," she insists. She tries to cover herself more in her PJs. The two-piece set can only do so much against the chill in the house. Nights are a lot colder in the jungle.

"No," I snap, "Not until you tell me."

"We don't have time for this. We need to get your sister." Her feet shuffle, motioning forward in a pace of urgency. She thinks that if she moves enough then I'll give in.
