Mommy's little fighter, I know yall must be very confused right now so here it goes. I'm so nervous about this post, about sharing our story, we're normally more privet but me and Phillip want to use our platform to make awareness of congenial heart defects and the fact that like people like us can fall victim to uncontrollable circumstance. Our little miracle Delilah was born 1 and a half months ago, everything was fine the pregnancy was normal and the labour went smoothly; but after she was born, when they did there checks they came across something unusual heart beat and that her skin had a blue tint to it. So immediately they called another doctors to check her over and it turned out that she had heart defect, tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia. she essentially no pulmonary valve to move blood from the heart to the lungs and needed immediate surgery to open up the valve allowing blood to reach his lungs to be reoxygenated. It all happened so fast but in slow motion as well one minute I just given birth to this beautiful girl then the next she was rushed into surgery, I couldn't but help think was this my fault ? Did I do something wrong ? Is she going to be okay ? How is this going to effect her life ? I spent the duration of her surgery crying. When the nurse came to check on me she said that 5 for every 10,000 babies are born with heart defects and that it's not the mothers fault it's just one if those things. She'll need 2 to 3 more surgeries in her life but babies with heart defects can life a normal active life. Her surgery went well thanks to all the talented amazing surgeons and nurses at grey sloan memorial hospital hospital me and Phillip have no way to ever repay you all. Phillip you've been my rock through it all I love you. She's doing well now she's got her daddy wrapped round her little finger. So that's are story. This was our life for 3 weeks. You all know are story by now from Anne's post. The day Delilah was born was the best and worst day of my life and that's putting it lightly. One second we were filled with overjoy that our beautiful baby girl was born then the next in absolute terra. I didn't have time to cry or get emotional I had to be strong for my amazing beautiful girlfriend only when I was alone that I would let it all out. Having to let go of your new born and trusting a surgeon with their life was the hardest thing, not being in control of the situation, you feel useless. To all the amazing talented surgeons and nurses at grey sloan memorial hospital I thank you for saving my baby girls life me and Anne would never be able to repay you all. Now to Anne, my Anne, the most beautiful strongest and badass girl I know you were amazing through it all, I told you everything was going to be fine, and I kept my word. I'm so glad and proud to call you the mother of my child, our daughter had this incredible woman as her mother to look up to I love you sweet. All of us are doing great, I've never experienced this type of joy before now, fatherhood is the best thing anyone could experience, she's already got her finger wrapped round me.
