Dee's P.O.V

I close the car door with my foot trying so hard not to drop the grocery bags in my hands. My car keys were in between my teeth and I slightly biting down on it to lock the car as I readjust the bags in my hands.

I groan as I walk up towards the front door, the bags starting to burn into my skin as I knock on the door if my load's hands. I was expecting Kaz to open the door but as I looked back at the driveway, I realised that Kaz's car wasn't here at all.

"Shit," I drop the bags on the floor, feeling useless as I remove my keys from between my lips.

I walk in, grabbing the bags again and notice was still in the same state as iI left it in. My legs trail me to the kitchen and I sigh, dumping all the bags on the counter. The house was insanely quiet and it gave me an eerie feeling.

I start placing all the grocery away, putting the cans in the cupboards and cold items in the fridge.

The front door opens with a squeal making me stand tall on my toes as I finish putting the eggs in their egg trays.

Turning around, I see Kaz walk straight past the kitchen, not even stopping to check if I was in here. "Kaz?" I ignore the pit feeling in my stomach and follow him but as I leave the kitchen I notice drops of blood leading to too him.

I gasp, covering my mouth with my hand and walk quickly towards him. "Kaz?"

He doesn't stop walking. "Kaz!"

"KAZ!" I jog myself in front of him, making him come to a halting stop, he looks everywhere but me making me extremely curious.

"Just leave me alone," He whispers dangerously.

"What happened to you?" I whisper looking down at his hand.  It was bruised and there were fresh cuts lingering on his skin.

"Kaz, what the hell happened?!" I panic, grabbing his hand to inspect it.

He snatches his hand out of my grip making me frown slightly. "It's nothing, Dee." " He says sternly.

I give him a questioning look not liking the way he said my name. "Kaz..." I pause. "At least let me clean your cuts. They're going to get infected-"

"Dee," This time, I knew that if I said something I would be crossing a line. I move out of his way, still eyeing him from head to toe and watch as he walks away.

Did I do something wrong?

I look down at my ring he gave me yesterday. Did I say something wrong?

I hear my phone begin to ring from upstairs and mentally cuss, remembering I had left it here, in a rush to get food.

I run up the stairs, missing steps where blood was spotted lightly and into the bedroom.

I look curiously at the ID, frowning not knowing who it is

D - Hello?

NC - Dee! Did the line cut last time I called?

D - You called?

NC - Yes, about two hours or so ago.

D - I was out actually...Was something wrong?

NC - Everythings alright. I just called to let you know you had left your jacket here and that I won't be here on the day you have booked in for a check.

I hear the bathroom door squeak open, making me turn around, just fast enough to see Kaz walking in with a towel around his waist.

Fuck. This was not the time to call me Dr Batesman.
