Dee's P.O.V

I feel pain linger throughout my head.

Was I finally dead?

I flutter my eye open and gasp, expecting to be surrounded by angels. Yet, as I look down in front of me, I notice the same scenery I admired almost every morning being here. I remove my bed covers and realize my left arm and hand were bandaged tightly in a thing wrapping cast. I look down at them in confusion until memories from last night hit me.

The explosion. The fire.

I look over to my nightstand to check the time. It was 10 in the morning.

I walk to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. Thank god the fire didn't burn my face...it would have been a real problem. I already struggle with how I look like, but having burn scars would throw me over a bridge.

I walk out of my room and into the quiet bedroom hallway. I stop in my tracks remembering who else was there last night

The Girls.

I silent shriek and tie toe to Janyce's room just to check if she was there. I creak open the door, and luckily I caught sight of her and Anthea sleeping peacefully next to each other. At least they were alive, well and safe.

I hear my stomach growl at me, making me close the door and walk out to the open house. I stop in my tracks when I hear something moving from the living room. I creep over with my hand fisted by in a ball, hoping it was just the wind and not a thief.

I slam my mand over my mouth to stop me from gasping out loud. I see Jay and some other guy past out on the sofa. I tilt my head in confusion. What the actual fuck happened last night?

I didn't bother waking them up. They were probably all tried after last night's events. I don't know why I'm not phased by it. Cheating death is supposed to scare you into living the rest of every day of your life like it's the last day.

I grab my wallet and phone. A walk down to the coffee shop was intriguing, I could just hear the fresh air calling me. I just need a little something to wake me up.

The cafe was that busy compared to yesterday morning. I slide into a small booth next to a window after ordering. I felt my phone vibrating, making my smile when I see the Caller ID.

D - Grandma!

G - Hello beautiful! How are you and the girls?

D - We're perfectly fine, I'm sorry, I haven't called you in like a week now.

Lies. Lies. Lies.

G- It's alright sweetie. Oh and Happy Birthday for yesterday, I'm sure it was yesterday in LA.

The girls and I are originally from Australia. We moved to Los Angele for our own reasons but we did it together because I doubt we'd be able to live with without each other.

D - Thank you, grandma...So? How have you been?

G- Oh, you know sick, like any other old person.

My face falls. I didn't like the sound of that at all.

D - Are you ok? At least tell me your ok and that someone is taking care of you!

G -  Your Aunty Anna is taking care of me but she's going for a business trip for a few weeks. I'm gonna be alone but I think I can handle it.

D - God no! You can't be left alone Grandma! I'll ask Anna If I can come and take care of you, Ok?

G - No honey, I'll be fine, don't worry.
