The white walls surrounded me as I sat still in the waiting room of a pathology clinical. It wasn't as busy as I expected it to be, there were only a couple of patients waiting with me for their names to be called out so they could get this over and done with.
The swish my water bottle in my hand, looking at it spiral into a twister.
Note to self, when you have to get a pregnancy ultrasound done, you literally have to drown yourself when drinking water.
Who knew 2 litres of water in under an hour could make you feel so unstable. I could literally burst any second now but unfortunately, peeing will only push my appointment away further.
I tap my foot against the tiles, trying to keep my mind busy from thinking about my bladder being at its full capacity. The lady next to me seemed to have got the hang of keeping still whilst also having a full bladder.
Her stomach was perfectly rounded as she kept leant back in her chair. "First time?"
I look at her as she flips through a magazine carefree. "Yeah, I'm really jitty because of my full bladder." I chuckle slightly, making her lightly laugh too.
"You get used to it by the fourth visit, darling." Her hand rests on top of her belly, smoothly rubbing it as a way of comfort. "I'll be honest when I say that when they press down on your abdomen, you'll pee a little because it's uncontrollable."
My lips go thin, trying so hard not to get too nervous about this appointment. "Do you know whether it's a boy or a girl?" I smile at her, noticing her wonderful glow.
"Got no idea." She shrugs, going back to her magazine. "But, I'm hoping it's a girl!"
The door which patients are sent through for their ultrasounds swings open, making both of us look.
A tall, pale skin male walks out with a folder in his hand. A slight frown against his face as his green eyes scan the information which he is currently concentrated on.
He looks up and around the room, probably noticing how unusually quiet it is for a mid-week. "Miss Gomez?"
My nerves reach the neck of my throat as I slightly stand up, collecting my jumper and bag. "That would be me." I smile at him, hoping this experience won't be as awkward as I created it in my head.
Maybe, I should have asked for a female doctor.
He greets me with a warm smile before stepping out of my way. "Right this way, Dee."
I nod at him, as he begins to walk in before me.
"Goodluck!" The lady who was beside me speaks.
I nod at her, giving her a tight smile before heading in behind the doctor. He walks down multiple machines and nurses who are too busy to acknowledge me and the doctor passing through.
"Sorry for the rush. we're usually more organised in the mornings but some of us ran to work late." He chuckles as he leads me too another door. He pushes the door wide open for me, letting me walk in first.
The room was small, dark and extremely. There was a large machine with the face of a computer standing beside a freshly laid out patient bed. "Happens all the time." I laugh as I put my personal things down on a chair.
"Okay, I'm just going to need you to pop down on the bed but before you that, I need you to change into this green gown,"
I turn around to see him holding up a green hospital gown making me look at him confused as I take it into my hand. "Uh, is there a specific reason why I have to change?"
