[Chapter 67] The Deadly Truth

Start from the beginning

"It's not as obsessive as you are."

Clayton hums. His head turns side-to-side. "And how did you find us here in the middle of the forest? Because from my perspective, I can't find the real mastermind with you two."

"If you're trying to find Melody, don't bother. She isn't with us."

"And I'm suppose t believe that she let you come here on your own without her protectio-"

"She doesn't know that we're here," my mom interrupts.

The door groans open again.

Instead of jumping, my muscles only tense up. I hold my own breath, anticipating the next figure to emerge from their hiding spot. Only then will the structure be abandoned, vulnerable to any kind of break in.

"And we're going to believe that you're the only ones here?" Sabor asks. She cocks her head to the side then steps out onto the edge of the porch, standing behind Clayton; it's wasn't for protection, as Sabor is more than capable of holding her ground, but for a greater view to scan through.

Emma and my mom look to each other, not saying a single word, before looking back to the other two.

She snickers. "Like we're dumb enough to believe that." She turns her head to her right.

For a second, I thought she would point out to me, and I felt a cold shiver run down my spine.

However, she stops before the corner of her eye could wink at my direction. "It looks like you two aren't the only ones that need lessons." She points a sharp, burnt-copper painted finger over to a huddle of trees that was matted by tall shrubs. The bridge of her nose wrinkles up as if she's taking a whiff of air, inhaling a specific scent. "Come on out, Henry."

A low growl erupts in my throat, but it quickly dies out once I realize the sound coming out. No matter how many times she will say it, I will always have the urge to rip her lips out for daring to say Henry's name. Even his name is too good for her, and she has no right to ever speak, or think, about my little brother. I know what she plans on doing if she were to ever get her claws on him and I have to do everything in my power to never let that happen.

Nonetheless, as soon as she calls out to him, the leaves of the bush jostle back and forth until his body emerges from the camouflage that the plant was giving to him. He may be my little brother, but even he can learn to hide his fears and show courage. That's definitely something he picked up from his family; I only gave him an excuse to use his courage more often.

Once he was standing in front of the bush, showing himself to the enemy, Sabor simply tilts his head to her shoulder. "C'mon, I know there's more of you."

Henry slumps his shoulders and sighs in defeat. I'll admit, he can act, yet he can't even go through with a simple lie. I can barely understand where he was able to muster this kind of play.

Eventually, another shake rumbles behind him and leaves crack on the opposite end. Soon after, Zelena comes to Henry's side; David, Snow, and Killian step out from the trees on Emma and my mom's left.

Now that everyone was out in the open, it was my cue.

I skip forward from my place, tiptoeing towards the nearest window in my reach which was the one farthest from the front entrance (to my delight). If Zelena or Henry could see me, they don't make a move to my direction; they keep their attention to Sabor and Clayton.

I reach the side of the house in just a few steps, and quietly might I add. I fold my hands along the window stool then look through the glass for any way of opening the glass. I look up from the bottom pane of the window sill only to find the sash lock to the window. For such dangerous foes, they don't exactly have intimidating locks in their home. I would've expected some state of the art tech, but I suppose they're more simple people.
