Run was all I could think.
The hunting of multiple footsteps come closer to us as to quietly sprint away from the back door.
I grabbed Janyce's hand and ran towards the bathroom. "We have to split up so it's harder for them to find us," Janyce's voice was shaky, afraid of what was going to happen next because we weren't going to be together.
I nod and watch Janyce walk upstairs into the attic while I quietly walk my way the hidden basement. I heard glass breaking and footsteps getting louder. I moved the bookshelf in the small bookshelf, panicking that I won't make it in time.
I duck my head through the small average size hole which was behind the bookshelf, only getting closer to get the basement. I sigh in relief as I move the bookshelf back just in time to hide the entrance to the basement.
I mentally thank Dee quietly for coming up with the idea to completely changing the ugly basement into a comfort zone. We did the same thing for the Attic, which Janyce was currently staying in, probably scared out of her mind, just like me.
I get my phone out with my shaky hands and text her.
Anthea
Are you ok? Is everything good?
I see the text message bubbles appear on her side of the texting screen, already telling me that's she okay. My face falls as those bubbles disappear without a message getting sent through. She's probably just really shocked right now and isn't in the right mindset to text me.
I pinch the bridge of my nose, pacing around the cosy living area. Calling Jay was the only way I could settle down.
I get my phone out and see I have no signal, making me frown. I was just able to text Janyce, and now when I need it the most, the signal I need to call Jay is gone? The intruders must have fucked with the internet cable for the whole street of something.
I throw my phone on the table in frustration and lay down on the couch placed in the middle of the room.
I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, I heard loud footsteps coming from the room on top of me.
My phone screen lights up, showing me the time. It was just past midnight.
It's either the intruders are still in the house or is it's Dee and the guys, looking around for Janyce and I. I didn't see any miss calls from anyone, but then again, it's because I didn't have any signal.
I quietly get up from the couch and move towards the back of the bookshelf, hoping that those footsteps belonged to Dee and the boys. The bookshelf moves quietly as I push it with all my might. The house was dark, only frightening me more.
I tip top into the hallway, looking up towards the stairs. The house was absolutely trashed. My eyes vision out all the broken glass everywhere. It being dark, didn't help with where I was going. My body was slightly shaky as I move my way in the house.
I cuss as I trip on something big, making me hold on to the closest thing, which seemed to be the foyer table. My eyes widen as I feel myself bump into a vase. I clench my teeth, trying to reach out for it but it hit the ground before I could catch it.
The pieces smashed onto the ground, flying everywhere.
I silently curse as I hear an immediate reaction come from upstairs. Heavy footsteps rushed down the stairs and the clicking of guns echoed in my ears.
I walk towards the living room, hoping they won't hear or see me. I eye the Tv which was still here.
Whoever intruded the house wasn't here to steal.
