Soon, we were a couple of weirdos laughing at nothing but each other.
See, this is what friendship was about.
We felt a presence in the room so we looked up and saw Kaz, Jay, and Freddie staring at us as if we had shaved our heads.
"What's going on here?" Freddie jumps onto the couch, still staring down at us weirdly.
"Nothing much. Just a lazy day," Janyce gets up, straightening her clothes and sits next to him.
"Really now?" Jay picks up the chips packet which Anthea was eating out of and throws some into his mouth. "Hey! Save some for me, idiot," Anthea jumps on top him trying to grab the packet.
Jay apologised to me as soon as he saw me on his couch. He was so guilty that he even made me breakfast and did my washing for a week. I couldn't help but forgive him, not that I had already forgiven him. I understood that he wasn't himself at all that afternoon.
I bit my lip as I watch Anthea and Jay playful fight over the bag of chips. They had made it work, Anthea listened to Jay and Jay listened to Anthea. Believe it or not, I was the one who forced them to work things out. I locked them into a room together, hoping that when I let them out, they'd be making out on the bed...and surprisingly...They were.
The 'girls lazy' day slowly turned into a 'your best friends have boyfriends and you're a fucking loner' day.
I look up at Kaz and notice his gaze was already looking down at me. I try my best to smile and I kind of succeed when I see his small dimple pop out of his cheek.
He puts his hand out and I grateful take it, suddenly being pulled up to my feet.
He looks around at the two couples now in their own world's and then finally looks down at me. "Ice cream?" He questions me as if I was going to turn his request down.
I quickly nod my head, not wanting to give him a delayed answer. My back faces him as I was about to ask the rest to come with us, but Kaz places his hand over my mouth. "Just us.....Please?" He whispers into my ear.
I look at him confused as he scratches the back of his neck.
He was nervous.
Kaz Fucking Black is Nervous.
"Hang on. I need to get change," I watch him fiddle with his fingers like a 2-year-old.
He rolls his eyes, sudden changing moods. "You look fine, Dee. Come on." He grabs on to my hand and gently leads me to his car.
I panic because I wasn't carrying my wallet or card with me. "Wait, but I need my wal-"
"I'm paying, princess." He voice becomes deep and slightly intimidating. My stomach drops at his words and I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks.
The way he called me princess made me feel weak to my knees, and I just don't understand why.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Wait, so you're telling me that you jumped into a pool and broke your arm? Kaz. How do you break your arm in the water?" I was trying so hard not to laugh at him as he kept a straight face. I covered my face with my hands, trying to contain my huge smile.
He shrugs his shoulders and takes a bite of his Rocky Road Ice Cream. "Shit happens."
I let myself burst out, not being able to hold it in my laugh anymore.
Kaz slightly looks up at me from his ice cream and his lips twitch upwards.
I gradually stop laughing, knowing I'll lose my voice if I don't stop. "You should laugh more." His eyes move down to my lips.
