"How'd you two meet?" Grandma won't shut up about Kaz.

I groan. "Grandma, I told you. He's not my boyfriend. He was just playing around." She looks up at me, completely ignoring what I had just said. "You remember Jay?" I play around with the hem of a washed skirt.

I hear her hum a respond. "The cute neighbour Anthea has a crush on?"

I nod at her. "Kaz and he are apparently best friends. Don't know how, because I've literally never since him anywhere near the house."

"So you met Kaz through Jay?" I could her knitting sticks sling together.

I shake my head. "Uh, no. We met at a club. He kind of saved my life." I think back to the night of my birthday, realising he wasn't affected by the fires at all, yet he literally put his arms through flames just to get me.

"I didn't just kind of save your life. I did save your life." He says out of nowhere, making me jump and grab my chest.

"Jesus Christ-" I say.

"Dee," Grandma says in a warning tone. I forget how religious she can be when it comes to putting God's name in vain.

"-Is my lord and saviour?" I continue, making it sound more like a question.

Grandma shakes her head at me. "Actually, it sounds like Kaz is your saviour," She winks at Kaz, pointing at his tall figure.

Kaz chuckles. "Yeah, princess. Am I not your saviour?"

I hear the doorbell ring making me tense up.

I see Kaz walk to the door but I beat him to it, running past him. I look back, over my shoulder and stick my tongue out at Kaz who was still making his way over to the door.

I open the door, and there stood Rayn in some casual jeans and a basic white top. He didn't look so bad compared to when I saw him a few days ago.

"Hey." He smiles at me.

I tilt my head at him. We still had 4 hours until our small date. "Hey, Rayn. Grandma's in the back if you want to see her." I say, encouraging him to come in.

"Actually...I thought you would want to go for coffee, now?" He asks. "Something came up and I can't really back down on it."

I nod my head, understanding his reasonable excuse for our date. "Of course...Just let me grab my walle-" I turn around and see Kaz, standing tall and looking at Rayn in disgust.

"-She's fine, buddy. I think she would wanna spend time here with her boyfriend and Grandma." He clenches his jaw, giving him a threatening look.

"We're going for coffee, Kaz." I poke Kaz in the chest before moving outside and closing the door. I give Rayn an apologetic look. "Just to clarify. He's not my boyfriend." I say shaking my head.

Rayn nods quickly. "Who is he thought? I've never since him around the house,"

We both step off the porch together and walk over to his car.

"He's just a really protective friend. Don't mind him please."

Kaz's P.O.V

I groan in frustration, looking away from the front window when Dee and the Rayn guy are out of my sight. I didn't like him. He had a weird vibe that bounced off him.

"You seem jealous." I hear the elderly voice echo from behind me.

"No, I'm just worried about her." I turn around to face Dee's grandmother. I seriously don't know where this caring attitude came from. "I think she'll get hurt easily."

She grins at me as she clasps her tiny, wrinkly hands together. "You know, when my husband met me, he was nicknamed 'scary' because of who he appeared but inside he was such a sweetheart. You remind me of him."  she says chuckling as she talks through her memories.

"Don't I scare you?" I say confused. People usually run away when they see me.

"Trust me, when I saw you, I was but I saw the good behind those eyes of yours. You aren't the monster you appear to be. Remember that, sweetie." She pats my bicep softly.

"Now! What would you like to eat?" She asks as she walks over to the kitchen.

"I'll cook Ma'am," I say. I was taken back from my own words.

"You can cook?" Her eyes widen as she responds in shock.

"What? Just because I'm big and scary, doesn't mean I don't know how to cook," I say playing offended.

I've lived alone for almost 10 years of my life now. Cooking and cleaning were just actions for me.

Dee's P.O.V

I stand into my door, staring blankly at it.

God. that was fucking awful.

"Never. Ever. Again." I quietly whisper to myself.

All he does is talk about himself. I tried talking about home back in LA, but every time I did, he'd somehow manage to make the conversation about himself. If that's how he impresses ladies, I don't think he's ever going to find someone.

I open the door slowly, tiptoeing inside the house. My nose caught on to a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen. Grandmas never fail to impress when it comes to cooking.

"Grandma, what is that smell-" I stop in my tracks and my jaw drops to the floor. In front of my stood Kaz slowly stirring a pot with a wooden spoon.

"Enjoying the view, princess?" He still kept his back face to me but I knew he was smirking. That's the second time he has called me Princess.

"W-what are you cooking?" I look over his broaden shoulders, putting my focus on the strong smell coming from the pot.

"Pasta. My mum used to make it for me, all the time." He was giving his full attention to the sauce as if it was a newborn baby.

"Well, it smells amazing! I'm actually kind of surprised your cooking." I hop onto the counter, sitting next to the stove he was cooking on.

"How was your cute date with Mr. Douchebag?"

I gawp at him, not correcting him after he calls Rayn a douchebag.

"I'm not going to lie...It was fucking horrible." I place my head in my hands.

He chuckles like he already knew I was going to say that. " What happened?" He says giving me half of his attention.

He removes the spoon from the pot and tastes the sauce for the pasta. He looks up at me while I smile at him like an idiot. He was so calm and relaxed.

He straightens up and brings the spoon towards me. "It's really good." I try to take the spoon but he pulls it back. "I'll do it," He demands as he keeps the spoon away from me.

I bring my head front a bit and slightly open my mouth, making him put the wooden spoon covered in sauce, in my mouth.

I moan, placing my hand over my mouth. "Somehow you haven't failed to surprise me," I say as I wipe my mouth for any access sauce.

He smiles a bit. "I'm glad you like it, princess," He says tasting the sauce again. "So yeah, what happened?" He repeats his earlier question.

I roll my eyes, just rewinding a few hours ago in my mind. "All he spoke about was himself and blah blah," I sigh. "I was just trying to piss you off,"

His head falls back and he laughs. "Kamra's a bitch,
