Previously on PJD:

"Leo Valdez, what are you in need of today?" The voice asks, sounding commanding yet bored. Annabeth stiffens and a small whimper escapes her mouth. She looks around worriedly.

"Wise Girl what's wrong?" I whisper. She doesn't say anything.

"Miss Athena, I think you need to be present for this. Please, so us all a favor and come down to see your daughter again. Oh, and her boyfriend is here too," Leo says. The intercom crackles and goes quiet. I hear something click and a door slowly opens towards us. A lady with brown hair walks through the door and stares right at Annabeth, looking her up and down.

"Hi, mom," Annabeth whispers.

Percy's POV

"Okay someone needs to tell me what is going on," I demand. We sit at a small table sipping some bitter tasting tea.

"When I was proclaimed 'dead' in Erudite, I was really just used for experiments. By Kronos. Then I escaped and came to factionless, where they took me in and make me a leader, beside Leo's mother," Athena explains.

"Wait. Your divergent?" Annabeth asks. Athena nods.

"I assume you are too," Athena whispers. Annabeth nods now and says nothing, sipping her tea and cringing at the bitter taste.

"Leo, how do you know Athena?" I ask. He sighs and starts explaining.

"When my mother was alive, they were best friends, always working side by side, even though no one liked me. My mother always told me that if something happened to her, go to Athena. So that's what I did," he says, gritting his teeth in the last sentence.

"Leo, I had no choice. No one here could care for you, so I had to send you to Nanny Hera," Athena says quietly, obviously guilty feeling.

"Yeah. Sure, and she took great care of me, didn't she?" Leo says, sarcasm dripping off his voice. Silence fills the room and Annabeth yawns.

"Listen, there's a reason we're here, and you owe my mom a life's worth of favors," Leo says. He yawns too.

"What do you need now, Leo Valdez. As long as it's not too extreme," Athena sighs, shifting in her chair uncomfortably, glancing around.

"Wait, is something...wrong?" Annabeth says, a yawn interrupting her sentence. Athena ignores her.

"Leo what do you need?" She repeats.

"Percy and Annabeth need to stay here to be protected from everyone else. It's not safe for them in dauntless, and Erudite want to take them..." he ends with a yawn and Athena's eyes dart around worriedly. I slam my fists on the table knocking over Athena's non touched tea.

"Athena what are you hiding," I growl. She leans over the table.

"I'm truly sorry Perseus," she whispers. Leo collapses next to me, along with Annabeth.

"What did you do?!" I roar at her, grabbing her over the table and shoving her back into the wall.

"Be careful Perseus, before you do something you regret," she whispers, brushing herself off, and frowning. I kneel down next to Annabeth and Leo, shaking them trying to wake them up. I groan and feel their pulse. Steady like normal. I stand up and face Athena.

"Tell me what you did to my friends, and why not me?" I demand, walking towards her. She stays in one place, not backing up the slightest. She just looks me in the eyes calmly.

"It was supposed to happen to you too," she mutters. Confusion fills my head and I massage my temples.

"Wait. Some kind of serum in the tea. How did it affect Annabeth?" I demand again. She sighs.

"You see, here at factionless, we have the serum to affect divergent, and all divergent, no matter how strong. We developed it months ago, and Erudite unfortunately discovered it. They've been after us ever since, trying to get a sample, just a drop, and then they can control divergent. I was told to put that in the tea, as we were expecting you two to come to us, maybe spies. So we had to take...precautions," she explains. While she talked, she was slowly drawing a knife out of her pocket, thinking I was dumb enough not to notice.

"And...if it works so well, why doesn't it work for me?" I grimace, not letting her see my eyes dart to the knife she is pulling out.

"That's the thing, Percy. It works on divergent, yet it's not working on you. So I'm just wondering Perseus Jackson, what the hell are you?" She says, and whips out her knife stabbing it right where my stomach would've been a second before I spun out of the way and tackle her to the ground, my gun at her head, her knife clattering just out of reach.

"You think I know? All I know is that I'm divergent, just like Annabeth, and everyone else who was murdered the night Annabeth and I were being tortured almost to death in dauntless. So either you let us stay in your lovely little town, or Annabeth and I will go back to dauntless, where we are 100% likely to die. But I'm sure you don't care about your daughter," I growl, spitting out each harmful word.

"Fine. You can stay. We won't pull anymore tricks," she says. I let her up and grab her knife from the floor, putting it in my pocket. I put my gun away and she stands up.

"They should wake up any minute now," she sighs. I kneel down next to Annabeth, holding her hand, not turning around to even look at Athena.

"I told you to choose you actions carefully Perseus, and you did you listen. Maybe after this you will have learned your lesson," she whispers. I whip around, but not in time to feel the bullet go through my shoulder. I yell in pain, writhing on the floor, until my world goes black.

Don't worry guys, nothing to worry about here....okay....hmmm?????

There's a .01% no one will die!

Love y'all!
