Nonetheless, decorating the glossy black coffin, a large bouquet of red roses balanced on top of the casket. The red roses were the only thing that was bringing life to this whole event.

Another tear fell down Regina's cheek but she didn't bother to wipe it away. More tears would just follow suit.

She wished that someone, a friend, would comfort her while she was grieving for her daughter, but she was the only one in attendance for Melody's funeral. She chose it to be that way. Because of the fact that she managed to take away everyone's memories with Melody, it would've been strange for Regina to be the only one crying in the funeral. People would be wondering why she was crying for someone she didn't even know. If only they knew the truth.

While blankly staring at the coffin, Regina manages to breathe a shaky sigh.

Why did fate have to destroy her happiness?

This was suppose to be her happy ending, her victory. She created this curse and everything was suppose to go her way. She was suppose to have the life she rightfully deserved.

Why did life have to play tricks on her again?

Why did the universe have to take away someone as innocent as Melody?

Regina had done everything she could in order to stop Gold from taking her precious daughter away from her, but death eventually took Melody away. Even after trying to protect Melody from the unfortunate curse they were put under, death was the one to snatch her away. Death was just playing a cruel joke with Regina all this time and she could do nothing about it. It seems like she will never truly be happy. She can't actually win. This victory was just a facade, and one day, reality will eventually turn everything around.

With that, Regina takes in another shaky breathe. "Melody, I'm so sorry," she says to the casket in front of her. "I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you enough."

She wipes away another tear that escaped her eyes.

"Everything that I've done was all for you. I may've hurt you but I only did it to protect you, but I guess it was no use. You're gone, and I would do anything to bring you back and reverse everything I've done. But, it's no use. The only thing I can do is find the person responsible for taking your precious life and they will pay the ultimate price for what they've done."

Regina was going to be truthful of those words. She's going to do whatever it takes to find Melody's killer. They don't deserve to live another second. They made the most unforgivable crime, and the culprit will surely feel the Evil Queen's wrath. They deserve to suffer for taking away the one person Regina held dear to her, and they deserve to pay the consequences for taking away the light from Regina's life.

With the anger boiling in her mind, it only led to frustration. Regina couldn't stop herself from crying. Her throat was already sore from all the nights she cried in her sleep, but her throat still tightened from another round of sorrows. Her breathe shook and she tried to wheeze in any air she could in order for her not to pass out from all the mourning she's done. Regina's heart was broken enough and it might not be easy to mend back together, if at all. She brings her hand up to her eyes and tires to stop the waterfall of tears from dripping down her cheek but fails miserably.

She tries to recollect herself, but it was too difficult as she would go right back to this state at the thought of Melody.

Eventually, she does calm herself, but it would only be for a matter of moments. "I'm going to miss you so much, Melody. You were all that I lived for, all that I saw happiness for. I don't even know how I'll be able to move on, but I know you'd want me to carry on. It wouldn't be right for me to lose hope at happiness. You wouldn't want me to lose, to surrender to the Dark One. I will do whatever it takes to be happy again."
