A/N: I'm sorry if this one shot isn't as good or if it's too cliché, I just really liked the idea and decided to write it and personally I really like this one.

Scorpio was bored so she decided to go to the beach. It was cloudy outside so no one else was there but Scorpio didn't plan on going swimming, she just wanted to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

Scorpio kicked off her sandals and walked around barefoot on the soft golden sand. She looked at the grey water hoping she'd see something from her grandmother's legends. Scorpio's grandmother claims that she saw a mermaid before and used to tell Scorpio mermaid stories all the time. No one really believed her, but Scorpio couldn't help but to keep checking just in case. She looked around hoping to see one clue or a sign that proved that mermaids actually do exist, but like always she expected to go home disappointed.

Leo was watching Scorpio from the shore. I should probably swim away before she sees me. Thought Leo, but she couldn't help but to keep watching. Maybe I should say hi, there's no one else around, after all I don't have to follow the rules anymore. Then Leo popped her head out of the water.

Scorpio was sitting down and daydreaming when she saw someone poke their head out of the water. Scorpio stood up and ran over to get a better look. Is she... a mermaid? Was my grandmother right all along and mermaids do exist? Thought Scorpio. Then the girl got scared and popped her head back underwater.
"Wait, I just want to talk. I won't tell anyone I saw you," said Scorpio. Then her head slowly popped back up and she swam closer to Scorpio. The girl had an unnaturally beautiful face. Scorpio could see her tail in the water.
"Hi," said Scorpio.
"Hi," replied the girl. Her voice is beautiful. Thought Scorpio.
"What's your name?" asked Scorpio.
"My name is Leo, what about you?" asked Leo.
"I'm Scorpio. You're a mermaid aren't you!" said Scorpio. Leo giggled.
"Not quite,"
"But you have a mermaid tail," said Scorpio.
"I'm a siren," said Leo.
(A/N: I did a bit of research and it said that sirens can have tails or human legs depending on the source, so I decided to go with tail)
"A siren... Is it true that your kind lures sailors to their deaths?" asked Scorpio.
"Most of us," replied Leo.
"So I was wondering-" then Scorpio heard footsteps. She turned around and saw a couple that were walking along the beach. When Scorpio looked back at the sea Leo was gone.

The next day Scorpio came back. She waited and eventually a familiar face popped out of the water and swam towards her.
"Why did you disappear like that yesterday?" asked Scorpio.
"It's againced the rules for a siren to be seen by a human," said Leo.
"But you're letting me see you," said Scorpio.
"That's different though," said Leo. Scorpio didn't know what Leo meant but decided not to question her about it.
"Is there some kind of punishment for sirens that are seen by humans?" asked Scorpio.
"Yes, if a human sees us then it's breaking a rule and the punishment for breaking a rule is that we get shunned by our sisters and we're no longer allowed to associate with them," replied Leo.
"So if the other sirens figure out that you talked to me you could get kicked out of your siren group?" asked Scorpio.
"No, I'm already shunned by them," replied Leo.
"How? Were you seen by a human before?" asked Scorpio.
"No," replied Leo.
"Then why were you shunned?" asked Scorpio.
"I've got to go," said Leo.
"No! Wait!" begged Scorpio but in the blink of an eye Leo was gone.

Scorpio spent the next few days returning to the beach hoping to see Leo again, but she never showed up. On the fifth day Scorpio sat down on the sand and waited again. Was it something I said? I probably made her think of a bad memory or something but why is she avoiding me? Is the truth about how she got shunned really that bad? If so what did she do? Thought Scorpio. Then she heard a splash. Scorpio looked up and saw Leo.
"Where have you been?" asked Scorpio who ran in the water and sat down beside Leo.
"I'll be honest, I was trying to avoid you so I could avoid telling you the truth," said Leo.
"Hey it's not like I'll judge you," said Scorpio.
"I know, I've decided to trust you so that's why I'm here now," said Leo. "I was shunned for breaking one of the most important siren rules. In order to be with the other sirens you have to lure sailors to their deaths, then the other sirens feed off of the sailors. I found it hard to do so and that's when I found out that I couldn't attract men because I wasn't attracted to them," explained Leo.
"So, basically you're a lesbian mermaid- I mean siren that can't lure male sailors to their deaths?" asked Scorpio.
"That's right," replied Leo. "Unlike the other sirens, my voice can only affect females. When my sisters found out they shunned me and told me to never come back so I've been wandering around on my own for a few years now," said Leo.
"But... don't you get lonely?" asked Scorpio.
"I'll admit I do sometimes, but there's many sea creatures in the ocean," admitted Leo.
"Well I suppose we can be friends," said Scorpio.
"Really?" asked Leo.
"Yeah sure," said Scorpio. Leo smiled.

Day after day Scorpio kept coming back and talking to Leo. Scorpio really enjoyed talking to Leo, and it wasn't until months later that Scorpio learned one very important detail. She was in love with Leo. This tortured her because Scorpio knew that a relation ship between her and Leo would never work. Leo lives in the sea while Scorpio was stuck on land. Scorpio was heartbroken but she continued talking to Leo anyway.

One day Scorpio was sitting in the water talking to Leo when she leaned in and kissed her. Leo was caught off guard but kissed Scorpio back anyway. Scorpio pulled away.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that," said Scorpio.
"No, it's fine. I liked it," said Leo.
"But a relation ship between us could never work out. You live in the sea while I live on land," said Scorpio.
"Actually there's a solution," said Leo.
"What?" asked Scorpio.
"A siren may choose to turn her tail into human legs, but if she does that then she'll never be able to turn her legs back into a tail," said Leo.
"I would never ask you to give up your tail for me," sand Scorpio.
"You don't have to ask, this is my choice," said Leo.
"No Leo, you can't give it all up for me," said Scorpio.
"Alright. I guess I'll see you tomorrow then," said Leo.

Later on that night Leo couldn't stop thinking about Scorpio. She finally decided she didn't care about her underwater life anymore and asked the gods to change her tail into a pair of legs.

The next day Scorpio returned to the beach to see an unconscious woman laying down on the sand. Scorpio ran over and saw that the woman was wearing a seashell bra and a long skirt that looked like Leo's mermaid tail. Scorpio looked at her face. Leo's features were more human now.
"Leo?" asked Scorpio. Then Leo's eyes snapped open.
"Scorpio?" asked Leo. Then Leo sat up.
"What have you done?" asked Scorpio.
"I decided that I want to be with you, even if I won't be able to breathe underwater again," said Leo. Scorpio wrapped her arms around Leo and kissed her.
"This means that we can be together," said Scorpio. Leo held Scorpio's hand.
"Together forever."
