The bell rings as you pack up your things. You walk out of your last period class to your locker. You open it and put your books in its respective place.

C: Hey shawty.

Your boyfriend, Chris, walks up and greet you.

Yu: Hey Chris.

C: You ready?

He leans on the locker beside you as you close yours.

Yu: Ready as I'll ever be.

You put your backpack on your back as you two walk out of the high school building. You two start walking to your house.

C: How was it today?

Yu: Same ole same ole. You?

C: Got a paper due next friday in government.

Yu: Good luck with that.

You both laugh as he puts his arm around you.

C: Can I ask you something?

You look at him.

Yu: Yeah what's up?

C: Do you love me?

You raise your eyebrow.

Yu: Of course I do. I wouldn't be with you if I didn't love you.

He nods as you two turn on the street of your house.

Yu: Do you love me?

C: Hell yeah! If anything, my niggas know I don't play about you.

You giggle.

Yu: Why did you ask?

He sighs before responding.

C: My parents been tripping about us.

Yu: You're not the only one.

You say as you roll your eyes.

C: They think it's just a phase, that we'll get over it when we move on to college.

You ponder it for a second.

Yu: You think we're gonna change when we graduate?

He looks at you.

C: I mean yeah of course we're gonna change, but I don't see us not being together. I mean we've been friends long before we started dating.

Yu: Well yeah, but what if we go to different schools? You don't think our relationship will be strained by distance?

He stops and looks at you.

C: Listen to me. I love you and don't see myself with anybody else. If we move away for college, it's nothing to facetime and visit each other.

Yu: But-

C: No buts. I value our relationship YN, and I'm willing to fight for it.

You look into his eyes before hugging him.

Yu: I love you too Chris.

You give him a kiss before you two walk to the front of your house.

Yu: Let's go.

You grab his hand as you lead him to the backyard.

C: Where are we going?

You open the door to a back house and pull him in.

Yu: You love me right?

You close the door behind him as he looks at you.

C: Yeah.
