[Chapter 22] Another Chance?

Start from the beginning

"W-What'll happen to her i-if no one claims her?"

"Bury her."

"Where?"

"Where all the unknown bodies are."

"Dr. Whales," she calls out.

He looks back at the woman.

"If it's no trouble, w-would it be alright if I-I take the liberty of giving her a p-proper burial."

"If no one claims her, then I don't see the problem."

"Thank you," she breathes out. A small smile was finally creeping itself on her lips.

"But," Dr. Whales adds. "I don't see why you would fuss over a nobody."

But, she wasn't just a no body. Melody was an important person in, not just the mayor's life, but the lives of everyone in Storybrooke. Nobody just remembers her, all except one. Regina Mills. But, what could've happened that made everyone forget a young face? That was just going to be a mystery to be revealed for another time.

For now, the grieving mother was able to have some peace. She was able to give Melody her final resting place. A place where the dead girl could finally call home. With that in mind, Regina walks away from the scene and a single tear drips down her face. The future was sure going to be a painful one. How could a mother possibly go on without her child? How could a mother possibly live without her only will to live?

Like everyone says, nothing will ever heal this mother's heart...

~Melody's POV~

I glance back towards my mother and Emma before returning my attention back towards my brother, Henry. He sat beside me on the small bed. I sigh, "So, I guess you were right Henry. Our mother did remember us."

"I told you."

"But, that still doesn't explain how nobody else could remember for the past 15 years."

"That's just another piece to our puzzle."

I groan. "This mission is going to be the death of me."

"Mel!"

"Hey, I didn't die! That was just a setback."

"Now, I'm afraid what you would actually consider an emergency leave."

"I've been through a lot, Henry. You wouldn't like what I've witnessed."

"Speaking of our mission," he interrupts. "There was something that's been bugging me the entire time."

"Lay it on me."

"Well," he starts. Then, he takes out a folded up piece of paper from his pocket. He glances back at his moms, making sure they weren't looking at our direction. While unfolding the mysterious paper, I couldn't help but eye it down. The anticipation was killing me. Once smoothing out the small paper, he looks at the front before turning the paper around so I could depict the evidence. "What is this?"

My eyes widen. It was the exact photograph that I found buried in the forest. The exact photo that bears Henry right in the center. "Where did you get this?"

"It was in your hand when you were hit by that car. Melody, why did you have this?!"

"It's not what you think."
