We both hate it - this lingering feeling.

I am surprised how Valencia could fall asleep during a tornado tearing apart the Bronx above our heads. But she is sleeping, in an uncomfortable position, although she just slept through the entire night. I wrap my arm around her and lean her on me so that her head can rest on my shoulder, how I faintly remember her doing this night. I haven't slept that well in a while. Maybe I also have some sleep to catch up to. If I just instantly close my eyes, it could work.

The fluorescent lights on the ceiling are blinding, making it almost impossible. I struggle up, making sure I don't wake Valencia in the process. Then, I walk to the main breaker box of the bunker and flick off the lights. Instantly, the hairs at the back of my neck stand up straight - not because of the darkness suddenly surrounding me, but because of the one drop of water that has fallen from the ceiling onto my arm.

Right from where the hatch is.
