Her eyes are imprinted into my mind. Hazel eyes – perhaps nothing extraordinary, but hers have something about them.

Am I starting to get obsessed?

The mission went smoothly, and the debriefing as well.

At least I was allowed to be on the field with my team on this one.

The gates close behind me, I'm back in this district.

Rain gently falls on my skin, on my hair, causing a few strands to stick to my forehead.

It feels good when I can stand under the sky for once and not worry about the effects of it.

I take a deep breath, taking in the smell of wet grass.

After I walked past the loudly buzzing electricity generators near the gate, I spot someone familiar.

Caught like a damsel in distress, how come I see her every time?

Maxine stands in the rain, an expression painted on her face that makes my skin get goosebumps.

She seems happy, free, and relaxed – as if it gives her a rush of dopamine.

Her hands gently reach out to catch some of the raindrops, mesmerized.

Who knows what she had to endure in Florida when something so simple as rain is giving her so much joy?
