A video starts playing of me.
My family start talking about me, and how I was as a child. My dad explained how it was difficult for me whilst growing up. I then started talking about money problems and how my dad would work two jobs just to make sure we had enough money for me to play football.
Short videos of me at the euros start playing. Lucy appears on the screen and speaks about my achievements. Ellen then also appears talking about me being captain. Leah and less also talk about me. I started to get emotional as less talks about me. She explained how proud she was of me and that she knew I would achieve so much.
To my surprise, Ian Wright comes on the screen and tells the camera how good of a footballer I was. He said that I was a game changer. To hear that from Wrighty was such an honour.
The video ends with a clip of my overhead kick from the euro final. In the clip, the commentators were going crazy. They were so shocked from my goal.
"It was strong, it was skilful, it was stunning, it was history changing. It was Olivia Russo." The commentators say and the video comes to an end.
"Ladies and gentlemen, golden boot winner and player of the tournament, it is Olivia Russo." Alex Scott says and I walk out onto the stage. "Liv, we saw there that it has been an incredible twelve months for you on the pitch. From being captain and leading your country to a home euros, to winning that tournament. Have you had a chance to take it in? And how proud are you of everything you have achieved?"
"I didn't really think I'd have the chance to go professional let alone have the chance to captain England to a home euros and so it's still a shock now. The incredible team that's just walked off this stage are the ones who've got me through such hard times and I wouldn't have played the way I did if it wasn't for them." I explain
"We heard your teammates there. Leah Williamson, Lucy bronze even saying that you don't even know what a good player, the player you're gonna become to be even more so after the euros. Talk about your teammates a bit more and the support that they give you."
"Yeah, when Lucy bronze talks, you listen." I joke and a small amount of laughter is heard throughout the audience. "But the girls are like are like a family away from home and whatever the circumstances are, they're always there to support me."
"I know your parents are here, and so is your sister. It was so great to hear from them. When you look back at that young photo of you. It's gonna come up in a minute. She's now a lioness, a European championship winner, and a legend already for Manchester City. Can you believe it all?" Alex questions and a picture of me when I was younger comes up on the screen. I was about six and I was holding up a trophy in a football kit which was covered in mud.
"I'm still pinching myself. I think I always will. I still think I need time to reflect and look at this year and what's happened but I'm so grateful and so proud of what I've done and what my teams have done."
"Well, you've inspired so many people over the summer liv, to want to be like you. The next Olivia Russo. For every young girl watching right now, what advice would you give them?" Alex asks
"I found that I played my best football this year playing for the love of the six year old that started. So I would say, enjoy every moment and don't forget the reason why you started playing football." I smile
"We heard your wife, Alessia, who we've just had up here on the stage, talking about how proud she is of what you've managed to achieve in your career. How does that make you feel?"
"It makes me feel so grateful to have her. She's one of my biggest supporters and I wouldn't be standing here, nominated for this award, without her. She's the love of my life, my wife, and the mother of my children, who were so excited to welcome to the world next year." I smile at less, who was sat in the audience, and I pull my dress back and my bump is soon revealed. The crowd cheers and claps as the realisation hits them.
