Carmel Lucia

"Nurse, paabot naman ako ng 1-0 absorbable suture–"

"1-0 absorbable suture–"

We're all wearing blue, disposal PPE including a gown, gloves, facemask, kaya naman halos mga mata lamang namin ang kita.

He just had the General Surgeon on stand-by to make sure that there were no complications with the other nearby organs, then Beaux took over from there.

Pro tip: if you don't want to cut or do not like human flesh, but still want to be a doctor in an O.R, be an Anesthesiologist. You make the patient fall asleep for us surgeons, and you get to sit in an O.R for hours, doing whatever you like, as long as the patient is on the right dose of medication and won't have any complications.

To Beaux's right is the surgical nurse and surgical tech, with the table of instruments and tools that we needed.

I could feel the eyes of the hospital staff observing the surgery from the gallery above, as well as the medical students around us, who're observing the surgery up-close.

"Uh—"

"---Nurse, please ako muna, mas mahalaga 'to, dahil kailangan kong tahiin kung saan nanggaling ang bata." I said as I looked straight at him. I could see his jaw clench through the mask.

"---Abutan mo muna ako ng mga four inches, then you can give the rest to Dr. Jonas," The way he said my name feels like there's an acid on it.

"Mas mahalaga 'tong ginagawa ko, so dapat mauna ako–"

"Oh, so kung mahalaga dapat inuuna, hindi sinasaktan at iniiwan, no?" Nanunuya niyang tanong sa akin.

The medical students around us let out a silent gasp, while the whole surgical team including the nurse beside me, literally stared at me, as though they were waiting for my rebuttal.

"How important are those reasons that you broke the person who loved you the most? What are you, a superhero saving the world?"

"Well, sort of—"

The anesthesia doctor butted in.

Hindi ko naman maiwasang mamula habang naglayo ng tingin si Beaux, we just then realized that everyone has been watching us argue like a cat and a dog.

"Let her have it first." He grumbled.
