Beaux

"Alam mo ba, walang whitecoat kanina si Dr. Carmel. Napaka-hot noong tattoos. Kapag minura niya ako, ako pa magpapasalamat."

"Hala girl! Same. I want her to chóke me."

Nagsalubong naman ang mga kilay ko at agad na lumingon sa mga med students na nakaupo, a few chairs away from me. I can't blame the students for thirsting over her because Carmel is super gorgeous and just ugh, words will not be sufficient to describe how drop-dead gorgeous she is. Whenever I see her, I just have to stop and appreciate how lucky I am that she blesses my eyes with her mere existence.

But she's my Carmel and I do not appreciate other people saying stuff about her.

"If I hear you say something about her again, I will make you do paperwork your whole duty and you will be forbidden to watch my surgeries. Do you all understand?"

Mabilis nilang sagot, before they all scattered around.

I sighed and shook my head. Kasalukuyan akong narito sa gallery at hinintay kong matapos mag-scrub in ang love of my life ko. She's about to perform a cystocele on a forty-year old patient. While I was waiting, I couldn't help but to look at the food bag she gave me.

"Kakainin mo ba yan o tititigan mo lang?" Tanong sa akin ng fellow kong si Dr. Corpuz nang umupo siya sa katabi kong upuan. He's a middle aged Filipino doctor with excellent surgeon skills. He was the one who offered me a fellowship here aside from Chief.

"Parang gusto ko na lang 'tong ipa-frame." Sagot ko.

The man chuckled.

"Wow, una sa lahat, KUDOS sa tagalog." He said.

Ngumisi naman ako. Yes, I have been studying the language because I want to be better.

"Syempre kailangan kong matuto, paano ko siyang kakantahan sa kasal namin kung bubulol-bulol ako 'diba?"

"You're really crazy, man."

"Crazy for her." Sagot ko. The man chuckled again.

When I look at the glass in front of me, she's already in the operating room, all scrubbed in with complete PPE. Even then, I couldn't help but to see how beautiful her eyes were when she looked up and saw me.

I smiled widely and gave her a flying kiss.

"Love you." I mouthed.

She rolled her eyes, bago siya lumapit sa isang resident na nago-observe at may hawak sa hospital phone niya. We usually let either med students or residents hold our hospital phone when we're in surgery, so in case there's an emergency, they can read the messages for us.

A few seconds, I felt my phone vibrate. When I pulled it out, it was a message from her.

Dr. Carmel Jonas-Bistalan: Eat.

And yes, I put my last name on hers because I'm manifesting, okay?

I bit my lower lip and looked at her. She was waiting for my response.

"Opo." I mouthed.

She nodded and then started the operation. I can't believe she texted me again. I mean, it was the resident who texted me, but still it was from my Carmel, so it counts. Saktong kaka-scrub out ko lang from a successful surgery and then I received her messages.
