Chapter 1 ( November 13th, Ella)

I toss what I need into my bag for the sleepover even though it's a Thursday. My mind want to reach out as I glitch, my teeth becoming fangs and wings forming on my back. I sigh and splash water in my mouth, my glitch phase over as I go back to normal, my mind control that wanted to come out of its hibernation falling asleep again.

I look at my calendar and see tomorrow as a no school day for multiple reasons. My hair falls in my face and I brush it back before I look at my Android phone, seeing the time as 7:54 pm East Coast time. Great, one more hour and 6 minutes till I can go, I think as I remember Kansas City is in a different time zone like Chicago.

"Hey Ella," Hunter says as his hair gets in his face, his bracelet covering up a bruise that he has on his upper arm. "So how do you like your new rank?"

"It still feels weird, I just glitched," I say as Hunter nods. "I like having stronger powers then what I had when I was ranked 3rd."

"Good, keep up with your mind control powers, I expect you to use them to keep the group as a whole."

"I will but Hunter, what if someone breaks the rules and I come in to late?"

"The rules speak for themselves. 1: No one that isn't friends or family isn't aloud. 2: Rank is based off rank before you got powers except for you and me since the invisible lightning," Hunter says as he opens the portal. "I got to go, see you later."

As Hunter hops into the portal, I shake my head at my hot headed friend who can control fire when in the portal world. I try to calm down from my heightened awareness all of the sudden and sit. I pack the rest of my items and listen to music on my iPod, my thoughts spinning with if/when questions.
